Sympathy of the neighbourhood is extended Mrs. Charles Lee and other relatives in their recent bereavement. The late Mr. Le passed away suddenly on Friday at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Trottman, Brighton. Master A. Lee spent the weekend with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilce. Ah. and Mrs. Harold Mutton and Mr. Gordon Mutton, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Mutton, Miss Nellie Mutton, Mr. George Mutton and Mr. Ted Gillespie attended the Golden Wedding celebrations of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Mutton in Bowmanville on Wednesday. Mrs. Harold Mutton and Miss Nellie Mutton poured tea in the afternoon. Mrs. Harry Darke and Diane spent the week-end at home. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Purdy and family, Grafton, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. J Mrs. Harold Mutton spent Wednesday night with Mr. and Mrs. Dean Chapman. Several friends called at the Snider Funeral Home, Brighton, during the week-end to pay | Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Mutton visited Mr. and Mrs. Bruce' Thompson, Cobourg, on Thurs-| day and also called on Mr. and Mrs. Austin Maher. Mrs. Lyall McCullough and Connie visited Mrs. Lawrence Mutton on Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. W. Steenburgh, Private Gerald Steenburgh, Miss Jean and Ronnie Steenburgh, Hastings, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Dunk. Mrs. Lawrence Mutton accompanied Mrs. Frank Morrison to Trenton on Monday evening where they joined other members of the Quinte Ex-Ser-j vicewomen's Branch 579 at a, Christmas dinner and party at! the Gilbert Hotel. Farm Forum was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ferguson on Monday evening. The Christmas meeting of the Shiloh W.A. will be held in the Hall on Tuesday afternoon, December 20th. Mrs. E. Jones and Mrs. L. Jones visited their mother on Friday in Bowmanville Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Carr, Mr. and Mrs. John McKague, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence McKague and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Darling on Sunday, attended the At Home in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Bertram Hoskin's 60th anniversary. The girls of the 4-H Club of Castleton met on December 7th, 1960, at the home of Mrs. D. Hilborn with ten members present. Mrs. D. Ducie gave notes on Measuring, the selection of patterns and pattern types. The next meeting is to be at Mrs. D. Hilborn's. Each girl will begin to make her cotton dress. CASTLETON by Mrs. F. Warner Mrs. Esther Slater left last week for British Columbia where she will spend some time with her son and family. . Mrs. C. Quinn left on Sunday to spend the winter in Toronto ■ with Mr. and Mrs. Nick Carter. Mrs. R. Moffat and Glen are spending a couple of weeks with Mrs. F. Warner helping with the Christmas mail. LAKEPORT by Mrs. R. Oke Mr. and Mrs. John Carey, attended the St. Lawrence Cement Christmas Party, held at the Queen Elizabeth Building, Toronto, Friday night last. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Trwin and son, Hamilton, visited Mr. and Mrs. Neil Fiddick on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Anderson, Kingston, spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Irvine. Mrs. Wm. Irvirce, who spent the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, returned to her home with them. Mr. and Mrs. Verne Tapley and boys visited at the home of her mother Mrs. F. Greenwood and Mr. Greenwood, Cobourg, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Flanders, visited at the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Krakenburg, Cobourg, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. V. Unwin and daughter, Hilary, Toronto, spent the week-end at the home of his father, Mr. and Mrs. Val Unwin. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Peebles, and Mrs. Tom Pendergast spent Monday of this week in Peterborough. Mr. and Mrs. Mackenzie Haig and family, Colborne, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Fiddick on Sunday. We are pleased to report that Peter Edison is home from Cobourg District General Hospital. I Mr. and Mrs. Neil Fiddick attended the St. Lawrence Cement Christmas Party held at the Queen Elizabeth Building, Toronto, on Friday night last. Mrs. H. Oke and Randy accompanied them to Toronto and returned home with them on Saturday night. Mr. Jim McKenzie, Toronto, spent the week-end at his home. pennies, were handed in. It was unanimously agreed to send a donation to the Scott Mission, Toronto. After the conclusion of business for the evening another carol was sung after which the meeting closed with prayer by Rev. W. E. Sayers. This being the Christmas meeting, Mrs. Peebles' home was nicely decorated for the sion including a lighted stmas tree, surrounded with for the gift exchange. When each had received and opened their gift, a social hour spent and a most delicious lunch enjoyed. A vote of thanks was extended to Mrs. Peebles for a lovely evening.
