THE COLBORNE CHRONICLE. Thursday, December 23nd; 1360 CASTLETON W.A. The Christmas meeting of the Woman's Association met Thursday at the home of Mrs. G. Carr with Mrs. W. Covert presiding. Hymn "As With Gladness Men of Old", was sung followed by the Lord's Prayer in unison. Mrs. B. Barlow read a Scripture selection from Isaiah followed by a Christmas mediation and prayer by Mrs. Covert. The Treasurer reported $242.-60 net profit from the Turkey Supper in October and $200.88 net profit from the Tea in November. Several items of busi- ness were discussed. It was decided to leave the purchasing of stack chairs for the S.S. until a later date. The officers were re-elected for 1961 with the exception of 1st Vice President, Mrs. R. Lawrason, who resigned and Mrs. J. C. McKague was appointed and also to assist the Secretary. The February meet-was planned with Mrs. D. It. Dingwall as convener. Mrs. W. Covert and Mrs. J. C. McKague were chosen as leaders for the World Day of Prayer. The roll call on "Christmas" was well answered. Mrs. G. Carr was convener for the "Christmas Festival" programme. Mrs. H. Welton read the Christmas Story from Luke 2:1-16. Various customs for Christmas from Germany, Sweden and India were read by Mrs. McKague, Mrs. Dingwall and Mrs. Carr, intersperSed with Christmas carols and a closing prayer. Mrs. Covert thankid Mrs. Carr as hostess and colt-After Grace a delicious lunch was served by Mrs. Covert and Mrs. Barlow. The United Church calendars were on sale. The January meeting will be withdrawn in lieu of the Congregational Supper. CASTLETON by Mrs. F. Warner Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nelson visited Mr. and Mrs. J. C. McKague on Sunday. Dr. and Mrs. Jack Johnson, Kingston, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lome Darling on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. A. Young of Hamilton visited her father, Mr. A. Wolfraim, over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. George Tait are still quite poorly. Mrs. Danny Simpson and Mrs. C. Simpson visited Danny Simpson at Kingston General Hospital on Thursday where he is recovering from a serious opera-Mrs. H. Savage of Toronto visited her aunt, Mrs. M. Leopold, on Sunday. Stand the tree in water or snow outdoors until you're ready to use it indoors. Bring the tree indoors just before Christmas and take it out as soon afterwards as possible. (December 26th is recommend- The larger the tree the great-thc hazard,, so don't get one ;r than you need. Just before setting up the tree, saw off the trunk at an angle at least one inch above the original cut. Place the freshly cut Christmas tree trunk in water and keep level of wated above the cut the entire time the tree is indoors. Moved by Ferguson and seconded by Dunk that the Board accept Arthur Bailey's application for caretaker. Carried. Moved by Bellamy and seconded by Dunk that the Board give the Principal, Mr. Millar, authority toiwy supplies on order for new school. Carried.
