Matthews spent Tuesday in Toronto. i Mr. and Mrs. Russell Stephens and family of Georgetown spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Day and Donna. Miss Nadine Irvine of Kitchener was a weel■ t-dci guest at the home of her riarents, Mr. and Mrs. William Irvine. She was accompanied by Miss Ruth Crozier and Miss Avis Chapman Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bibby and family of Hamilton spent the week-end with her parents, Mr, and Mrs. Borden Summers. Mr. and Mrs. Ray McLaughlin and family of Whitby visited Mr. and Mrs. Tom McDonald for the week-end. Their also visited Mr. McLaughlin's moth- Mr. and Mrs. Charles Teal and family spent Sunday afternoon and evening with Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Teal and girls. Mr. and Mrs. Routley visited their daughters on the weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Harnden and Mr. and Mrs. Len Beamish. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert McLaughlin and family spent tht week-end at their cottage. Mrs. Charles Teal and Ricky spent Tuesday with Mrs. D. W. Campbell in Havelock. Mrs. Roy Collings is a patient in Cobourg Hospital. We wish her a speedy recovery. Missess Ruth Sheldrick and Dorothy Arnott spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Sheldrick. Sorry to report Mr. Fred Spence is in hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery. Mrs. Clara Gwynne spent a few days last week with her son Mr. Alan Gwynne and Mrs. Gwynne in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. James Smith and Barbara- of Toronto spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Myles. Miss Verna Latimer of Belleville General Hospital visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Latimer and family. Mrs. E. O. Coyle of Belleville spent the week-end at her home in Colborne. Mrs. Gladys Hart, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harrison and Kim spent Friday evening with Mrs. George McCracken and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Corkery and son Danny in Grafton. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. McMullen visited friends in Cornwall on the week-end. Mr. Gordon Mallory of Brighton has taken up residence in the old Finley-Nelson house on Church Street East. Mr. Mall-ory's father was the late Dr. Mallory and once resided in the home which is now Joe Persofsky's on King Street East in Colborne. Mr. Kenneth Dale of Winnipeg and Mr. and Mrs. Burt Armitege of Toronto were in town on the week-end attending the funeral of their father, the late Mr. Walter Dale. Mr. Fred Taylor of Wroxeter spent the week-end with his parents, the Rev. and Mrs. F. W. Taylor at the parsonage. On Sunday afternoon in Colborne United Church J anice Arlene and Reginald Clare, children of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Chapman, were received by Holy Baptism into the fellowship of the Church of Christ by the minister the Rev. F. W. Taylor. Concerning the news item last week about the Rev. F. W. Mahaffy, B.A., preaching the sermon in Colborne United Church on Sunday morning, June 4th, at the ripe old age of 91, it should be added that he also preached the sermon in Salem United Church on the same morning. Moody of Noranda, Quebec spent a few days last week with her mother Mrs. Ethel Simmons. Miss Anne Irwine of St. Catherines and Mr. and Mrs. John Irwin and son Michael of Toronto were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Moore and Jane. The Rev. F. W. Taylor attended the funeral of Mrs. D. M. Smith, wife of the Rev. Dr. D. M. Smith, at Campbellford on Tuesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron McGlennon of Lakeport were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Reed and family on Saturday evening. ***** Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Reed, Frederick and Corine, were Sunday guests of Mrs. Robert Copp and son, Albert, Cherry Valley, Ontario. Mr. Kenneth Blake attended the Industrial Accident Prevention Association (Central Ontario) banquet held at the Gen-osha Hotel, Oshawa, on June 8. Miss Rose McGuire is teaching in the Roman Catholic Separate School, Grafton, for the month of June, Miss Anne Self has completed her year at Peterborough Teachers' College and is vacationing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Self and family. / Mrs. Ken McLennan and son, Kenny, Grand Centre, Alberta, are spending several weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Archie McLennan and Mr. Russell Teal and family. OBITUARY WALTER SIMPSON DALE Born at Morganston, Ontario, March 16th, 1881. He farmed in the Castleton area until 1913 when he moved to Bowmanville. 1919 he moved to Regina, Saskatchewan, where he resided until 1951. In March of that year he was married for the second time to Maude Ives Rutherford. Besides his widow, he leaves to mourn him two sons, Kenneth and Howard of Winnipeg; and two daughters, Mrs. Hubert Staines of Regina and Mrs. Burt Armitage of Toronto, all by his first marriage to Olive Gifford Newson of Dundonald. A broth-■, Harry of Chicago and a sis-r, Mrs. L. J. Jones of Vancouver survive him as well as n grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mr. Dale rested at the G. B. Barnes Funeral Home, North Street, Colborne, until Friday noon, June 9th, and to Old St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Colborne, were service was conducted by Rev. W. E. Sayers, assisted by Rev. F. W. Taylor. Interment was held in Castleton Cemetery. The pallbearers were Clinton Robinson, Dona Id Prentice, John Van Egmond, Claude Goodrich, Clarence Black and Gordon Mutton. Flowerbearers were Ross Wright, Gordon Dunnett, Kenneth Macklam, Austin Eddy, Hugh Mutton and Arthur Rutherford. Friends and relatives attended the funeral from Bowmanville, Colborne, Oshawa, Brighton, Carrying Place, Toronto, Winnipeg, Shiloh, Dundonald, Castleton and Edville, New Toronto and Cornwall.
