The newly weds, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Metcalf, were serenaded on Friday night with plenty of music with tin pans by friends and neighbours. LAKEPORT by Mrs. R. Oke Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Peebles attended Decoration Day Service at Vernonville on Sunday. Miss Anita Flanders, Scarborough, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Flanders. Mr. Jim McKenzie, Toronto, spent the week-end at his home. Mrs. Mary Hart, Toronto, is visiting Mrs. Mary Petrie. Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Mr. Jack Cracknell, Toronto, was in the village on Monday and called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Val Unwin. Mr. Jack Orrock, Downsview, visited his father, Mr. David Orrock on Sunday. Mrs. George Peebles is spending a week with her daughters, Mrs. Fred Baxter and Miss Marion Peebles, Highland Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gardiner and daughter, Miss Lois Gardiner, Weston, were over night guests on Friday at the home of her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Flanders. Mrs. Ronald Hahn and daughter, Tracey, returned home to Hamilton after visiting the past week at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Darling. Mrs. Darling and son, David, accompanied them home for the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Mac Pettibone and her mother, Mrs. Patric-kin, Toronto, spent the weekend at the cottage. Mr. and Mrs. John Russell and Randy, Toronto, spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. Winnifred Robinson. Mrs. Robinson remained at her home after spending the past five months with relatives in Peterborough and Scarborough. "Play Ball" seems to be the one and only sport these days. In connection with Haldimand Recreation, a soft ball comm tee recently organized a team Wicklow, Grafton, Centreton and Lakeport. A home game scheduled for every Thursday night at Lakeport. They have played two games on the ball diamond at Lakeport Elementary School, one at Centreton and Tuesday of this week, Lakeport plays Wicklow at Grafton. Let' all go when the games are played at Lakeport, if we are able to attend at a distance and cheer for good old "Cat Hollow". Mrs. Delbert Peebles and sis ter, Mrs. James Lockhart, Toronto, and Mrs. Fred Coffeen, Colborne, spent Tuesday afternoon with their aunt, Mrs. John Beatty, Warkworth. Kelloway was elected President of the Bay of Bay of Quinte Conference of United Church of Canada at the annual meeting on Tuesday, May 30th, in Kingston. Rev. Kelloway is minister of Trinity United Church. He succeeds Rev. D. M. Smith of Campbellford. Four contestants were nominated for the post. They were in addition to Mr. Kelloway, Rev. Robert McLean, Cambridge Street United Church, Lindsay, Rev. H. M. Davis, Bridge Street United Church, Belleville, and Rev. A. E. Larke, of Springhill pastoral charge. Mr. McLean withdrew with permission of his mover and seconder. Mr. Kelloway was installed in Dunning Hall, Queen's University on Friday morning, June 2nd. Until that time Mr. Smith will carry on as head of the conference.
