Morrison underwent surgery at Cobourg District General Hospital this past week and is improving nicely. Mrs. Arnold Harnden and Junior spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Harnden. Wayne Hare has accepted a position with Canadian General Electric at Peterborough. Among those attending the Policemen's Ball in Cobourg on last Friday evening, were Mr. and Mrs. J. Kernaghan, Mr. and Mrs. David Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Don Hare, Mr. and Mrs. F. Goody, Mr. and Mrs. M. Francis and Mrs. Doug Johnston. Some of the men who left for deer hunting this last week-end were Phil Grosjean, Don Harnden, Don Hare, Ralph Barnes, William Munroe and Jack Gros-jean. Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Harnden were in Toronto on Wednesday. Mrs. S. Dixon, Mrs. N. Warner and Mrs. F. Welton were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Harnden. Turkey supper held in the Church Hall of St. Andrew' United Church last week w very successful event with rt ly four hundred people being served. Doug Johnston attended Farm Safety Raily in Lindsay last Tuesday as one of the representatives from Northumberland County. EDVILLE by Mrs. Dean Chapman Communion Service next Sunday evening, November 12th, at 7.30 p.m. with the Rev. B. B. Snow of Brighton officiating. Sunday School at 10.00 a.m. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Pearson and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Bill Pearson of Raglan on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stickle spent Tuesday in Belleville. Mr. Albert Hoare of Hastings called on Mr. and Mrs. Owen Tripp on Sunday. Miss Caroline Chatten underwent surgery in Cobourg General Hospital on Friday. We wish you a speedy recovery, Caroline. Their guests called on Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Pearson on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Chapman, Gail and Cheryl, were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mutton, Shiloh. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Chatterson, Colborne, spent Sunday with Miss Maude and Mr. Ray Hoare. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne McDonald visited Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thorne at their home in Presqu'ile on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Taylor and family, Lakeport, and Mr. and Mrs. John Young and Michael, Trenton, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Cochrane. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Chapman and girls visited Mr. and Mrs. Ken Mills on Saturday evening. Relatives from Shannonville and Deseronto visited Mr. and Mrs. Russel Cochrane on Sunday. Mrs. John Cochrane attended a committee meeting for the Community Institute at the home of Mrs. Semple, Brighton, on Monday afternoon. Several ladies from this neighbourhood attended the monthly meeting of the Community W.I, at the home of Mrs. Arthur Morgan, Hilton, on Wednesday evening. Mrs. H. Gaynor had a very enjoyable vacation last week when she closed her store on Thursday and drove to Waterloo to Dr. and Mrs. A. A. Case and with their family drove to Warren, Ohio, from there to Cleveland and on to Kent where they toured the campus of Kent Sate University. On her return from Warren she visited relat ives in Willowdale and was accompanied home by her sister Mrs. Harlow and opened her store at Little Lake on Tuesday. ■ SOUTH CRAMAHE CENTRAL SCHOOL BOARD TENDERS SEALED TENDERS will be received by the undersigned until noon November 15th, 1961, for the supply and erection of 118 rods wire fence and cedar posts, at South Cramahe Public School. Mr. Howard Samis and Mrs. Clarence Samis called on Mr. Clarence Samis in Weston on Saturday. Mr. Jack Horner and Bob Stickle called on Mr. Leonard Ward in Colborne on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Hobbins called on Mr. and Mrs. J. Kaiser on Friday evening. Sgt. and Mrs. Jack Snape and baby of Trenton spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Snape. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Evely celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. L. Connors and in the evening at their home with around 100 relatives, friends and neighbours calling from London, Toronto, Malton, Oshawa, Hampton, Solina, Bowmanville, Newcastle, Cobourg, Colborne, Brighton, Frankford and Kingston. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Detlor of Belleville were Saturday night guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Sheppard. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Honey who celebrated their fourth wedding annivers- •y on November 2nd. Mr. Clayton Samis of Kingston spent a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Samis. Mrs. James Sheppard was a Friday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Evely. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Detlor of, Belleville and Mr. and Mrs. Jas. | Sheppard were in Toronto on Sunday and called on Mrs. Clarke. Miss Sytske Jouwstra of Colborne was a Sunday dinner guest of Miss Mary Stickle. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Evely who celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on Saturday and received several nice gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Toyne and family of Malton, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Evely and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Ellerton and family were present. Miss Jean Samis spent the week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Samis. Miss Gale Watson of Kingston was home for the week-end and attended the reunion cf teachers at Peterborough Teachers' College. Mrs. Island of Toronto and Mr. and Mrs. J. Kaiser called on Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Evely on Sunday evening, also Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Papst and family of Brighton called in the evening. Mrs. Howard Samis spent a few days with Mrs. Clarence Samis. Glad to report Mrs. W. Theobald is home from Trenton Hospital much improved. Mr. Ellis Sheldrick of Halifax, N.S., spent Saturday evening Euchre, Dance and Presentation The Recreation Committee held the first euchre and dance of the season at Lakeport Ele. mentary School on Friday evening last. There were over one hundred present. Winners for the euchre were: ladies' high, Mrs. Henry May; ladies' lone hands, Mrs. Fred Clarke; ladies' low, Mrs. Ivan Flanders; men's high, Mr. R. Kirton; men's lone hands, Mrs. Kaye Island; men's low, Mr. A. McGlennon. Spot dance prizes went to Gail Kirton and Rickey Tapley and Correen Reed held the lucky ticket on the hamper of Macintosh apples. Happy Birthday was sung to Mr. Eric Palmer and belated birthday greetings were extended to Mrs. Ruby Oke. Tasty refreshments were served and during lunch period, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Moore were presented with an occasional chair and cushion and jardineer stand from neighbours and friends. They are leaving our community to take up residence near Grafton. Bob and Marie will be missed very very much as they have been interested and taken an active part in all community activities and each held offices in connection with St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Ladies' Aid, Community Club, Recreation and School Board. Mr. Delbert Peebles read the address and the presentation was made by Mr. Ivan Flanders and Mr. George Bishop. Bob and Marie sincerely thanked all. There was a double presentation that evening but unfortunately the bride and groom of a few weeks, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bodis, were unable to be present as Mrs. Bodis' mother, Mrs. Viva May, met with an accident on the way home from work at Seaway Foods, at supper time and was taken to Cobourg District General Hospital for treatment. Mrs. Bodis' sister, Miss Mary Baggaley, accepted their gift, a lovely step table and table lamp, and on their behalf, thanked everyone. This certainly was a lovely evening. Mr. Elmer Tripp, Colborne, was on hand to call for the square dances.
