Thomas George Fletcher, who passed away in Kingston Military Hospital on Monday, November 27th. Tommy died of injuries received when the car in which he was a passenger went out of control near Picton on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Grant and children of Newmarket visited Mr. Grant's mother, Mrs. W. G. Grant of Cedar Street, over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Rutherford of Keswick were week-end visitors in Colborne. They \ such long-time residents here that it is a pleasure to see them back if only for a day or two. Mr. Wm. Harrison, Sr., and Miss Marjorie Harrison, Port Perry, Mrs. G. Adcock and Mr. Harry Adcock, Hampton, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harrison and Kim. Miss Marjorie Muskett spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Muskett in Trenton. Mrs. J. F. Wolfraim visited Mrs. Hamlet Wolfraim in Toronto for the past week. Mrs. Harold Carter of High River, Alberta, has been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Carter, Mr. and Mrs. John Seeley and her mother, Mrs. Jfhyllis Inglis of Brighton. Mrs. Inglis returned to Alberta with her daughter where she will make her home. Mr. and Mrs. George Latimer motored to Kingston on Sunday accompanied by their daughter, Miss Verna Latimer of Belleville General Hospital. Verna remained in Kingston where she will spend three months training at the Ontario Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Teal and their guests Dr. and Mrs. Elliott spent Friday evening Havelock and called on Mr. a Mrs. D. N. Campbell. Mrs. Keith Clark is a patient in Cobourg District General Hospital. Mr. John Collins of Cobourg, former grain buyer around here, was in town last week and he tells us the farmers might get 25c a bus. more for rye in January, 1962. Mr. and Mrs. A. Cammack and boys spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Mayes Cookstown. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grills] of Bowmanville spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Mac Campbell and family. Mr. J. W. Summers and Mrs. Harriet Summers visited his sister Mrs. Oscar Holmes and other relatives in Morrisburg and surrounding district for the week-end. OF AGRICULTURE The Quinte District Veterinarians were hosted by the Department of Agriculture at the regional Veterinarian Labratory in Brighton on the evening of November 23rd. The president, Dr. Keith Harrison of Tweed presided and called for discussion on the Science Fair Movement which is being developed on a regional basis across Canada, leading to a National Science Fair for the winners in Ottawa next May. A report for the continuing education of Veterinarians and Pharmacists was given by Dr. William Mitchell, Extension Officer at the Ontario Veterinary College; discussion followed and an agreement reached or a proposal to have a co-operat-meeting in February at the department's building in Bright-t the Regional Veterinary Laboratory. The speaker for the evening and Chief of the Laboratory Dr R. J. Julian was introduced by Dr. Parliament, who credited the work that Dr. Julian was doing as a diagnostician and helping area Veterinarians est ablish laboratory techniques ir. their own clinics. Dr. Julian outlined the facilities of the Laboratory and the way in which he could help in Animal Diagnosis; the proposal to have 1 hear more I in person. BY LONG DISTANCE a survey on new diseases such as Malignant Lymphema, a problem in some of the finest herds in this country was considered. Equipment for blood serum evaluations is not yet available at the Regional Laboratory, this work having still to be sent to the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph. The importance of Mastitis Control Programme was stressed; the laboratory is fully equipped to handle all Mastitis testing and the techniques were all demonstrated by Mr. Clitheroe, the technician. Dr. Julian pointed out that books and journals are available at the laboratory for loan to any veterinarian; information on any subject will be found and forwarded on request. The Principal of the Ontario Veterinary College, Dr. Trevor Lloyd Jones was a special guest who outlined the programme for the Centennial celebrations at the College this next summ-also the proposed uses fur ine new Alumni Hall to be dedicated at a ceremony during the celebrations. The new Hall will be able to accomodate all SSen-ior Year Students and Graduate Students, who are attending from various countries in the world, offering an opportunity through co-habitation for the values essential to integration and development of character to effuse.
