Box 283, Colborne. 283, Colborne. mar62 COLBORNE COUNCIL NEWS The regular meeting of Colborne Council was held on December 11th, 1961, with the following members present: Reeve F. W. Harding and Councillors Moore, Dove and Harn- Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved on motion of Councillors Dove and Moore. Ed. Kernaghan addressed the Council regarding the assessment and taxes on property which he owns on Percy Street. He stated that he had removed two buildings since he purchased the property but that there has been no adjustment of ment. Reeve Harding pointed out that the Assessor was t to see and that no doubt he would rectify any errors Correspondence received from the following:-- From Dept. of Public Welfare enclosing a cheque for $78.75 this being the amount of payment due for month of October. From N.&D: Health Unit with report for month of October. From Dept. of Public Welfare regarding an application for assistance from Mrs. Joy McAn- From Wilson and Cousins stating that they were r position to tender on any type fire equipment and would appreciate an opportunity to do if the village required such equipment. From South Haven Nursing Home in Newcastle quoting rates per month for patients and stating that they were in a position to accept additional tients at the present time. From United-Carr Fastener Company stating that they had no objection to the village taking down the smoke stack at the WANTED TO BUY Boys skates, size 5 or 6. Applications for building permits were received from H. Jen-to build a new front entrance to his office and from W. Kimmerly to build a storehouse and office. motion of Councillors Dove and Harnden the building permits were granted to the above. Recreational Director, Wayne Ring, requested Council that they consider advancing money to cover the overdraft at the Bank until after the first of the year. Council discussed with Ring various items regarding the Recreation Committee and their programme and advised him to have a statement of their receipts and expenditures and also a list of names of people who might be interested being appointed to the Committee and present the same to the first meeting in January. It was also agreed, on motion of Dove and Harnden, that this Council advance the money needed to balance the 1961 Bank account of the Committee this advance to be deducted from the 1962 grant. motion of Councillors Moore and Harnden it was igreed that notice be inserted in the Colborne Chronicle proclaiming Tuesday, December 26th, as a public holiday. Moved by Dove and seconded by Harnden that the accounts be paid. Carried. Reeve Harding thanked the members of Council for their co-operation during the year and expressed regret that Councillor Moore found it necessary to retire at least for the year as he had found him both able and willing to undertake any assignment which was giver, him. Councillor Moore expressed his thanks frKReeve Harding for his leadership and for help during the past year. On motion of Councillors Moore and Dove Council did then adjourn.
