Brighton News by Bette Moore It was a busy day in court on Thursday, March 8th! William Puddephatt, 34, of Colborne, was charged with two thefts. He pleaded not guilty. Trial set for March 22nd. David Clemment, R.R. 1, of Trenton, charged with theft, was found guilty and will remain in custody until March 16th. Jack Elliot of Belleville was charged with impaired driving. He received a 3 month suspension of his driving privileges. Thomas Abrey, R.C.A.F., Trenton, was charged with intoxication. Seven days sentence, impounding 6 months, suspended 6 months. Herbert Smith, Hilton, was charged with 2 breaking, entering and theft and with 1 theft. One year probation. Jack Cannan and partner were remanded out of custody until April 5th, after four , charges under the Liquor Control Act. Charged with criminal assault: Gerald Jones, Donald Stewart, Roger Stacey and Leroy Carr were remanded until April 5th and released on bail ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 each. The Morley Websters have returned from their Southern vacation. Dr. and Mrs. Frank Dunnett have returned from their trip to Trinidad where they attended a dental convention. Mrs. J. A. Roney has beer confined to her bed all last week following a fall in front of her Mr. Bert Morrow spent last week-end visiting her mother, Mrs. Oscar Morrow. Pretty safe to assume they were the first to put in appearance. Now that the week-ends are pretty fair weather-wise, it's probable Ruth will begin her weekly treks while Judy not return until Easter. Welcome home to Mr. and Mrs. Max Young who have just returned from their winter cation in Florida. Miss Linda Vincent spent the week-end in Toronto visiting her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Craig. Two more have joined the flu parade, Miss Violet Fulford and Mrs. Gordon Williams. Brighton Bay took on all the evidence of a busy little village built on ice over the week-end. While busily engaged in this attempt to avert further collisions, they didn't notice their car was gone! Looking down the highway they saw car No. one towing their car (due to the bumpers being locked). It must have given them a strange feeling don' think? Well, to make a long story short -- car No. one kept on going, driving his o\ and towing the Taft car 2 railway tracks, down the road 2Vi miles until he pulled into his own driveway, all triis and he was apparently unaware of the fact that he had the Taft car ii tow! He has been charged unde the Criminal Code. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Taylor of Oshawa spent the week-end ith Mrs. Taylor's parents, the J. A. Simpsons. Word has been received from Mr. and Mrs. Stan Stewart that they are having a fine trip. The latest word came from Hong Kong and they are anticipating spending the month of April England. The Reverend Stiles and hisH family are now "quite at home'l their new home. Reverend! Stiles, former Rector of Stl Paul's is now Rector of St. Mat-I hias in Etobicoke. Mrs. Joe Weir was returned to Trenton Memorial Hospital Tuesday night. Mrs. Weir suffered a-concussion as a result of a fall some time ago and returned for further treatment.
