Mr. Roy Packard and Winston attended the Legion Past President Banquet on Friday evening in the Legion Centre, Colborne. Mr. Russell Pearson, Cobo-conk, spent the week-end with his mother, Mrs. Walter Pearson. Mrs. Roy Chapman returned home on Sunday after spending a week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill McKnight while they were in Philadelphia. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chapman spent Tuesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Claude Goodrich, Colborne. Mr. George Peters and Jim-mie, Salem, called on Mrs. Walter Pearson on Sunday. Mrs. Fred Pearson returned with them for a visit. Mrs. Kenneth Mutton Friday dinner guest of Mrs. A. B. Taft, Brighton. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Dunk and family visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Loveless, Brighton, Sunday. Mr. Bob Chapman, New Toronto, spent the week-end with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Herbie Trottman and family called on Mr. am Mrs. Gordon Evely, Brown' Corners, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lackey and family, Georgetown, are spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. Roy Chapman. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Mutton called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Bird, Codrington, to show their respect for the late Master Terry Bird. Mr. Roy Packard attended The Vimy Dinner in the Legion Hall at Brighton on Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Gresham, Colborne, were Monday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Honey, the occasion being their 30th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Taft, Bob and Bonnie, Brighton, were Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mutton. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Stimers attended the Edville Community Club dinner on Saturday evening in the hall. Mrs. George Branscombe, Grafton, spent last Wednesday with Mrs. Frank Chapman. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Packard and Mr. and Mrs. Winston Packard attended the funeral of the late About 150 friends and relatives gathered at the Legion Hall Saturday evening, March 31, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the wedding of Mildred and George Latimer. The hall was decorated in pink and white streamers, and pink and white streamers hung from the ceiling. In front of the orch-etra a table was decorated to suit the occasion. Over the tahh were two silver bells, and on it were two lovely flower arrange- Terry Bird at Codrington Church on Saturday. Mrs. Lawrence Chapman visited her sister, Mrs. F. Dunnett, Brighton, one day last week. Mr. Floyd Mutton, Bowmanville, visited Mr. and Mrs. E, Mutton on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Samons visited Mrs. John Begg in Campbellford Memorial. Hospital on Thursday evening, f Mr. and Mrs. Basil Nelson and Mrs. Myrtle Nelson, Shelter Valley, had Sunday tea with Mr. and Mrs. Archie Samons, Pleasant View Farm. Mrs. F. Simpson spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Herbie Trottman. Mr. Wm. Mclvor, Greenwich, Nova Scotia, was a tea guest at Mr. and Mrs. Archie Samons one night last week. ments. At one end of the table was a wedding cake and silver candle holders with candles bear ing the symbol 25 to signify the occasion. Mrs. Latimer wore a corsage of white carnations tinted with silver.given to her by her son and daughters. Mr. Ray Blakely rendered several pleasing numbers and the 3 W's supplied the music for the evening. There was a spot dance which was won by Mr. and Mrs. Dean Chapman and the prize was a silver dollar each. There were several square dances which were very much enjoyed. Caller was Jim Coyle and playing the violin was Tom Cuthbert. A stepdance was done by Gordon Bland and William Drinkwalter. The highlight of the evening was a mock wedding. Duncan McGlennon played the part of the minister and Fern Freeborn the part of the bride. Ivan Buchanan was the groom and the mother and father were HoWard Grosjean and Isobel Ring. Betty Cuthbert was the bridesmaid and Ken Mills was the best man. Gordon Bland was the ring-bear-er,and Peter Koomen rolled out the carpet for the bride and grcom and rang cowbells. Quite a few pictures were taken at this time. Mr. W. G. Bowen, brother-law of the wedding couple read the address from everyone pres- ent and Mrs. Ivan Flanders presented a money tree on which hung 50 silver dollars. George re plied at this time, thanking everyone for the lovely evening. Dainty buffet lunch was served and everyone enjoyed a half-hour of renewing old acquaintances. Mr. and Mrs. Latimer were the recipients of many lovely gifts and a large number of cards from friends and relatives. Guests were present from Perth, Brantford, Bellevile, Orland, Warkworth, Whitby and Brighton. Boy Scouts The group committee of the Boy Scouts met April 2nd with Chairman Howard Grosjean in the chair,there were nine members present. Discussion re camping and location of camp was thoroughly gone into and the leaders are looking for a large group of scouts to attend camp this year. In connection with camping equipment it was moved by Pepper Martin, seconded by Reg Pacey that we purchase tents in time for camp. Presque Isle district meeting is to be held at Carrying Place, April 26th. Paper collection will be carried out Saturday, June 2nd. It was suggested that a member of the Rotary Club could be persuaded to assist Cub master Ted Lee with the Cubs each week. The scout camp is to be held August 18 to 26. We were also glad to add our new Assistant Scout Master, Ken Dyer and Bill Griffis assistant to our Cub Leader.
