Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bailey on the safe arrival of a new baby girl, born on Sunday, May 13th, (Mother's Day) at the Trenton Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Max Wyckoff and Carl were guests last Saturday at the wedding of their son, Mr. Peter Wyckoff to Miss Ivy Bolton, at Winchester Springs, Ontario. Sorry to report that Mr. Bruce Chatterson's race horse is dead. The horse was recently struck by a motor vehicle on No. 2 Highway near the Chatterson resi- Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Schwarrtm of Toronto spent the holiday week-end at their Salem home. Miss Brenda Hoskins of Hamilton was a guest at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Onyon during the holiday week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Frank McDonald visited her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Wright at Dundonald on Friday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Swartzman of Wooler Road called on Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith on Sunday. Several Salem families were among the crowd of folk who enjoyed the giant fireworks display and Band Concert at the Colborne Memorial Park on Monday evening. Mr. Tommy Everden who plays the trumpet in the Colborne Band attended the opening ball game at the Maple Leaf Stadium, Toronto. Mrs. E. Gilmour of Almonte spent the past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alf Smith. Guests girls of Ottawa and Mr. Ira Gibbons of Almonte. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Harris of Cooksville were holiday week-end guests at the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bellamy. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Everdfen and boys were Sunday supper guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Hubbs, Mary and Carman, at Brighton. ' Mr. and Mrs. Jim Everden and family spent Monday at the Everden home. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Clarke of Toronto spent the long week-end at their cottage on the north Salem road. Salem's telephone system will be changed over to "the dial" sometime next fall. A Bell Telephone representative called on local families during the past week to find out just how many homes would be interested in a private or a two-party line. Holiday callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank McDonald included Mr. and Mrs. Will Fiddick and Lyal of Brighton and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Fiddick of Toronto. Other recent guests at the McDonald home were Mr. and MVs. Angus McDonald and Allan of Oshawa and Mrs. Carl Montgomery of Dundonald. Measles have come to replace the mumps in Salem. Dianne Whaley is the first reported victim of this malady. Mr. and Mrs. John Fenaughty and girls have opened their cottage at Presqu'ile Point. Guests during the long holiday week-end included Mr. and Mrs. John Bean and Barbara of Belleville, Miss Karen and Master Brian Bellamy and Mr. and Mrs. Will Peacock. Mr. and Mrs. Fraser Arthur and family of Eddystone were Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. ecil Bellamy. Hartford, Colborne, also visited them. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mutton and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mutton on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. C. MacMillan, Cobourg, visited Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Mutton during the week. OBITUARY W. HERMAN MORROW W. Herman Morrow of Wooler, passed away at Cobourg General Hospital at the age of 67 years, May 6th. 1962. He passed away after an illness of three weeks although he suffered a heart seizure while appearing as a candidate at the Conservative Nomination Rally in CDCI West a month ago. Born the son of the late John and Jane Morrow at Maberly, Ontario, he attended school there and married the former Dora Haggarty. The couple resided in the Perth area and later in Wooler where Mr. Morrow became active on the church board of Holiness Church. At the time of his death, he was employed as assessor of Murray Township, a position he had held for nine years. Mr. Morrow took an active part in political affairs and was a councillor and Reeve of Murray Township for twelve years; a former returning officer for Northumberland County Conservative Association; charter and active member of Trenton Hospital Board since its inception; Warden of Northumberland and Durham Counties, and former member of County Road Commission and vice-president of the Conservative Association for Northumberland. Mr. Morrow is survived by hisj wife, two daughters, Mrs. Arnold I Adair of Cold Lake, Alta., and Mrs. Elberne Carson, Pictdh; sons Hilliard and John are at home in Wooler. Also surviving are six grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Chas. Blanchard, Lom-mardy, Ontario; Mrs. Blake Terry, R.R. 1, Frankford; Mrs. Roy Os-terhout, R.R. 1, Frankford, and Mrs. Edwin Dracup, Lakefield; one brother, Walter Morrow. Frankford. Rev. W. J. Woodland, Kingston, assisted by Rev. Merdo Campbell of Calgary, Ita., officiated at the funeral from Holiness Church, Wooler. Rev. John McCallum assisted at the graveside at Stock-dale Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were members of Trenton Hospital Board, O. M. Newton, K. J. Couch, S. O. Graham, Harry Sager and- Gerald Weaver; also Percy Gooding, Hon. W. A. Goodfellow, G. T. Shields and Rev.
