Because of phones being out of order this week I was unable to get all my news. that Christ promised to be ii Do you remember when you were about sixteen, and could see the world through the clear eyes of inexperience? How simple everything seemed to be then! All you had to do was either bore through, or ignore, all the complexities, and right and wrong ere obvious. And how we wish we could still do that! Don't we all feel that way sometimes? If we could just sure of ourselves after life has walloped us around a bit, pillar to post, what good consciences we would have -- if we followed the dictates of our consciences. But experience teaches us that e issues are hardly ever black and white -- right and Sometimes there doesn't seem to be ANY absolutely right course of action! And that is because evil permeated every phase and aspect of life and has left nothing untouched. We seek to do ight thing and find that often the only course of action we can take the way of what seems the lesser evil. Oh, I don't mean to say that we have NO idea of what, is right or wrong! Our Lord gave us some very practical principles to follow, if we are to be His disciples. to do the loving thing -- the thing which does the least possible amount of harm to other: and which does them the most good. "Love one another". "Love your enemies". That is guidance which is helpful in every perplexity. "Forgive". That is the attitude of life and heart and soul, which gives direction to life. "Do | unto others as ye would that they should do unto you". That is our compass, so that we need never lose our bearings, or our sense of direction. "Bear ye one another's burdens" -- here is the way of victory, through the corporateness of our Christian faith. But the thing that jinxes our efforts to run the straight race and to have in us the mind of Christ and to be His witnesses in the world in thought, word and deed, is the sin which works in all men everywhere. We are born in a and we are surrounded by it 1 our lives. But there are also Means of Grace by which we may overcome sin and catch at least a glimpse of the will of God and His pur-us, but these must be used diligently, or we are sure to be defeated. We must pray without ceasing making all of life a prayer, an offering and a petition to God! And we must look to God's Word for God's Truth, for eternal truth can be found nowhere else, must do His will, as it is revealed to us in the Scriptures ; through prayer, and we must ceive support and encouragement from one another, if we are ever to put sin under subjection. We must first know what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Salvation is a corporate perience -- it is the Church, the Body of Christ, which is redeemed. Not the individual who is out of fellowship with other Christian believers. The Church is fundamentally a fellowship above all and there is no salvation outside the Church. The will of God is revealed to us only through fellowship with other Christians, for it is where two. or three are gathered together* in His Name, midst. Therefore, non-Church-at-tenders who could be present are incapable of doing God's will, for Jesus said: "Without me ye can do nothing". Right and wrong then, are muddled in our minds, sometimes, because of Sin -- our failure to seek and to know and to do the will of God! Rather than having it revealed to us, we too often assume that our way is right, and the other way is wrong! We neglect the means of grace and are lost. But Right and Wrong are only known in our submission to the will of God, as revealed in His Word, through Prayer, fellowship and the exercise of our faith. And if we are muddled, it is only because we are neglecting our Christian discipline. For God makes it plain to him who earnestly seeks and promises us that if we seek, we shall find, and if we knock, it shall be opened to us, and if we ask, we shall receive. So let us seek the way of God. "Old age seizes upon ar spent youth, like fire upon a ten house." -- South "A lot of hard luck is caused by sitting around waiting for a soft snap".
