(continued) Mrs. John Fenaughty opened their spacious summer cottage at Presqu'ile Point for the June meeting of the Salem U.C.W. on Wednesday evening of last week. Twenty-six ladies were in attendance. During the evening, Mrs. Peters gave the address and Mrs. Cecil Bellamy presented Kay with a matching set of jewelry. A most interesting program followed. Miss Vera Clark, one of Public Health Nurses who resides in Brighton, showed coloured slides of scenes taken during her trip to Africa last summer. In her own delightful manner, Miss Clark accompanied each picture with a running commentary. "At Home" "Do you remember when im almost certain that this must have been one of the most used sentences at the "At Home" at C.H.S. last Saturday afternoon. During the past forty years, many Salem pupils have had the privilege of asecondary education at C.H.S. and on Saturday, many ol these "boys and girls of yesteryear" returned to re-new old acquaintances and to join in the special "At Home" which was held on the grounds of the Colborne High School. , What a joyful occasion a reunion can be! As I sat, enjoying a cup of tea, with one of the "girls" of my graduating class, we watched for familiar faces as the folk thronged around us. How thrilling it was to meet so many old friends! And oh, how nice, to hear voices which we had not heard for 25 years say: "Why, I'd know you, anywhere!" Inside the school, the many photographs and snapshots on display brought poignant memories of days long since lost in time. Out on the grounds, Salem folk were in evidence everywhere. The two young women on the platform who made presentation addresses to their teachers were Miss Patricia Peters and Miss Lenna Chatterson, both of Salem. Mrs. Bruce Chatterson was one of the ladies who poured tea. This same delicious beverage was made by our own Mrs. Thos. Everden. Misses Mary Bellamy, Judy Barnes and Karen Bellamy assisted with the refreshments. Tommy Everden was one of the boys who worked long hours helping with "behind the scene" tasks. Mr. John Fenaughty was there, in charge of the public address system. Many other Salem folk had assisted by sending in pictures and notebooks of former years. Former Salfem i C.H.S. pupils noticed among the guests included Patricia Blyth, Betty and Ruth Onyon, Barbara Gifford, Gwen Pritchard, Edith Montgomery, Marjorie Davis, Mildred Keyes, Ruth Peacock, Edythe Arthur, Gertrude Bellamy, Don Swain, Bill Brown, Jack Armstrong, Earl Whaley, Ken Bellamy, Don Chatterson and John Davis. No doubt there were many more whom we did not chance to see. Other folk, now residing in Salem, who were mormer C.H.S. pupils whom we noticed in the crowd included Bernice Buchanan of Colborne, Ruth Allen and Russell Haynes of Castleton, Edith Pearson and Evelyn Gummer of Edville. Ail in all, it was a memorable occasion. Although it is rather sad that the old C.H.S. will be no more, this day which was set aside to mark the closing of its doors will long be remembered by all who attended.
