Mttte. The Voice Of The Church A WEEKLY MESSAGE BROUGHT TO YOU BY YOUR LOCAL MINISTERS Some Things Found in Hell COLBORNE UCW UNIT TWO U.C.W. MEETING Unit Two held their regular meeting on Monday, the 24th, at the home of Mrs. Al. Dale with a fairly good attendance. To open the meeting, a call to worship was taken from the Upper Room. Business followed with the regular reports. The devotional was taken by the following, Mrs. D McLaughlin reading the scripture taken from Acts 17, vs. 22-28 and meditation by Mrs. L. Beamish after which everyone repeated the Lord's Prayer in unison. Hymn 231 was sung. A chapter from the Signals for Sixties was read and led into a very interesting discussion for the evening. Mizpah Benediction closed the meeting. Rev. J. A. Shantz Recently we discussed some of the things that are not found Heaven. As I do not know too much about Hell and have no intentions of finding out experimentally, again, I must take the Book and in a simple way note > of the things that are definitely in Hell and will be in Hell if you so chose or neglect to escape by Salvation in Christ from it. There is the theological ostrich that buries its head in the sand and says, "There is no Hell". Friend, look in your Bible there is a Hell. A real literal, terrible eternal abode that will house the sinner, the rebellious, and the worker of iniquity. Look! Prepare to meet the Judgments of a Holy and yet a Just God. Too many of us are so concerned about the course of mankind in relationship to right or left, too conservative or too fanatical this day we need to remember the concern of the church is not right or left but UP or DOWN. Reader where are you going to spend eternity. Salvations plan is written, the witnesses, past and present point you to the Lamb of God. The Book is written, "That ye may know". I take no delight in writing an article in which we would warn you of the future yet, I can say I have obeyed. Y.\ There will be a certain rich man. Luke 16:19. There will perhaps be a lot of certain rich men. Not that riches are barriers to Heaven but that they stumblingblocks to spirituallity. Jesus said it is easier for a cam el to pass through the eye of ; needle than for a rich man t( enter the kingdom of God. The rich man of the Bible will be there because Jesus said that hi was. 2. There will be torments. Luke 16:23. Psychology has determined that there is every possibility of the subconscious mind having an ability to retain all of a life's thought processes. In hell the scales being removed man looks at himself, his failure, his scoffing, his wasted opportunities to get right with God. Perhaps these torments are not only literal but mental anguish, Baptist Church Colborne Minister: Rev. James Gibson Organist: Miss Edna Rist Sunday-- 11.00 a.m.--Morning Service 11.30 a.m.--Sunday School Thursday-- 7.30 p.m.--Prayer Meeting at the Parsonage Tuesday-- W.M.S.--First Tuesday of each month Mission Band-- 3rd Friday in the month at 4.15 and a highly open and keen conscience. 3. There will be sight of the blessed, and high, godly life but le way of attaining to it from that place. Luke 16:23. All the desires that one could muster in that place would not avail. Now is the day of Salvation. There will be crying. Have ever witnessed the crying of a grown man? On several occ-I have stood by and listened to grown men cry in anguish. The Bible tells me that in Hell there will be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. A better translation says, "gnashing on one another with their teeth". How can you waste your life in sin and rebellion knowing that such an eternity awaits the ungodly. 5. There will be thirst but there will be no water. V24. The rich man was in torments and anguish and his tongue clave the roof of his 'mouth but there was not a drop of water to be found in all of hell. Sin has nothing that satisfies, like a baby's soother it only pacifies. Drink now at the Fountain of Life, and then you need not worry about the torments. 6. There will be flames, Luke 16:24. Some people become ei raged at the thoughts of a mil ister trying to say that Hell is place of which flames are a part. Some try to explain away a literal Hell. This my friend, is no parable, it is to be taken literally, not metaphorically. It is a fact. THERE WAS, vl9. 7. There will be no way of escape and no return. V.26. The occupant of Hell begged and with tears, only to receive the words, "Fijom hence thou can not". Today if you hear God' voice harden not your heart. There will be no special i. Billy Sunday the man of God of recent once said, "They will not serve your booze on a tray". The Rich man had a more noble request than that he wanted to get back to life that he might be a missionary. Too late, Too late, was that soul's sad cry. There was a gulf, a chasm he could not even though he wanted too. The devils also believe and tremble. The Beast will be there. Rev. 19:20. That member of the Satanic Trinity that counterfeits the works and miracles of the Blessed Saviour of Men. When Jesus walked this earth they called Him the devil. When the beast comes forth in his pow-to him of Satan. The wretchedness of man will call the Christ. Oh, the perverseness of the human sinful heart. 10. The false prophet will be there. Rev. 19:20. He is the member of the Santanic trinity that mimics the gracious acts of the Holy Spirit of God. Perhaps even counterfeiting the day of Pent- 11. The Old Serpent which is the Devil will be there. Rev. 20: 10. He is the father of lies and of Liars. When Christ does triumph in every sense of the term, not only spiritually as now, but also physically as we who believe do wait, the Devil shall be cast into the Lake of Fire where the beast and the false pr^Jhet are. 12. Everyone whose name is not written or blotted out of the Book of Life will be in that place too. Rev. 20:15. Some people say that a person will not spend eternity in hell only the devil's will. Be assured of the reliability of scripture, the same three terms used to describe the abode of the Satan are the same as the one used to indicate the eternal resting area of the unsaved. The picture is dark and hopeless as we look at the facts of Hell, were it not for the Gospel. I mean, the Gospel. Not church, fancy sermons, ritual and regalia but the simple truth that is obtainable by children, that Jesus died for sinners. Do you believe in Him- as your Saviour? Do you know that your'e saved? Do you have the assurance in your soul? Do you have the burden for those who are headed headlong for Hell? O house of Israel, why will ye die, Turn ye, Turn ye, and live. I will be a Father unto you and ye shall be my sons, saith the Lord of Hosts. EDVILLE by Mrs. Dean Chapman Communion service at Sharon United Church next Sunday ening at 7.30 Rev. B. B.
