THE COLBORNE CHRONICLE, Thursday, November 29lh, 1962 Miss Sikes, the girls physical education teacher, has been under examination in Trenton Hospital. The students all hope you return to the school soon in good health, Miss Sikes. The Science Club began last October 9th and is now back in progress after their short delay in meetings. Under the guidance of Mr. R. Bird, science teacher at E.N.D.H.S., the members will work together on scientific projects. The members hope to have guest speakers to help build up the interest of the club. There was a high school dance last Friday sponsored by 12-C. Records were played for the first part of the evening and the 'Gents', a junior pop band, entertained for the other part of the dance. Spot dances and elimination dances kept the dance hopping with excitement. An English Inspector and Shop Inspector visited the school this past week. Exams start to-day so keep your fingers crossed and wish us luck. The band will have a busy week-end after the exams an through as our Commencement ii planned for the following Friday and the Brighton Santa Claus parade that Saturday. A Carol Night is being planned for a Sunday evening in December. Nothing is definite but we hope it will he possible. Have you seen the new fad taking over the girls' group yet? Well, just ask Yvonne Crevier (better known as George) Betty-Anne McColley, or maybe that red-head, Joy Hoskin. They will all tell you that the biggest craze this week is a silver streak in your hair. Yes, this week many girls looked to be going gray with worry but actually had a silver spray in their hair. BRIGHTON NEWS by Elizabeth Gagne Little Master Robbie Tougas underwent a tonsillectomy in Trenton Hospital on November 19th. Mr. Gordon Quarrington died suddenly in Ottawa on November 20th. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Marjorie and Sandra. The Quarrington family resided in Brighton for several years before moving to Ottawa a year ago. Something a little new and different for a church tea was tried on Wednesday, November 21st, when the Parish Workers of St. Paul's Anglican Church had their annual Christmas Tea and Bake Sale in the Parish Hall. This time, those attending had their afternoon tea, buffet style, from a beautifully decorated long table where Mrs. C. Young and Mrs. C. Page Three Rogers poured tea. After 'helping themselves' everyone enjoyed their tea while sitting in a huge circle. Very many complimentary remarks were heard about the lovely and fascinating Christmas centrepiece on the table, made by Mrs. I. D. Rickerson. Congratulations to President, Mrs. Jack Whyle, and all the Parish Work-s, for a very successful tea! Mrs. Fred Armstrong of Cooks-ville was a guest last week of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Day. Mrs. Francis Lambrecht and Miss Corinne Craig of Cobourg house guests last week of Miss Mayme Atkinson. Miss Barbara Gotsell and Mrs. Harold Spencer spent last weekend in Ottawa and visited Mrs. Spencer's daughter, Nora, who is attending college in that city. Ray Blight died in Toronto last week after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. The Blight family have been campers at Presqu'ile Point for many years. Mrs. M. Sorry to report that Mr. Jim Bellamy has been transferred to Kingston Hospital. Miss Kathryn Bellamy has returned home from hospital and is able to be back at school. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Smith of Cobourg visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Smith, on Sunday. Little Darlene Davis was a Wednesday over night guest with her friend, Susan Smith. Mr. and Mrs. John E. Davis entertained Mr. and Mrs. Don Cornell and family of London, Ontario, last Sunday. Parents of the pupils who attend South Cramahe Public School were invited to a Parents' Night at the school last Tuesday evening. A School and Home organization was discussed. Most parents feel that this is a worthwhile idea. The school choir, under the direction of their music teacher, Mrs. Irvine of Colborne, sang several selections during the program. An hour of dancing to music supplied by the principal, Mr. Bob Millar, and friends from Wooler, brought the evening to a Mrs. Archie Bellamy is enjoying a two week vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Harris, at Cooksville.
