Mr. and Mrs. Cecil May who celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on Saturday, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lon May turkey dinner. I. met at the home of Mrs. Gordon Broomfield on Wednesday night, November 28th. Mrs. Nelson Usher, Honorary • President, opened the meeting vith the Ode and Creed. The roll :all, the first W.I. meeting I at-;ended, was responded to by 19 iiembers and 1 visitor. The resolutions to be voted on at the Trent Valley Area Conven-were read and a motion was made to support them. Mrs. Clifford Gillespie was chosen as delegate to the convention. Mrs. Floyd Bilcox will also attend as a District delegate. The Secretary-Treasurer, Mrs. Bilcox, reported a balance of $80.99. She read a letter outlining the duties of curator of the Tweedsmuir History Book. When Mrs. Nelson Usher completes her term as convener for Historical Research and Current Events she. will take over the new position as curator. Conveners of Standing Committees gave their reports. Mrs. Wm. Wildey read a trib- e in honour of the late Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt. Mrs. Nelson Usher noted that the West Northumberland District had a report in the paper of the Federation of Agriculture. Mrs. James Deviney said that four meetings of the 4-H Home-making Club had been held. Mrs. Douglas Rutherford read i interesting item about cosmetics which dates back 358D years. Mrs. Clifford Gillespie was convener for a most interesting and informative program on the topic, Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario. After Mrs. Gillespie's opening remarks, Mrs. Douglas Rutherford led the group in a sing song. Mrs. Gillespie showed films of ipecial interest to W.I. members. Commemorative ceremonies honouring the late Mr. Erland Lee, early organizer of the W.I. ;re shown. The Adelaide Hoodless Homestead and ceremonies which took place when it was officially opened were also shown. Then followed the film taken at the 65th anniversary celebrations held in Toronto in February, 1962. Mrs. Gillespie gave an account of the various groups connected with Women's Institutes.
