Goodrich and Mr. Goodrich, last week on their way home from a six-month tour of Europe. < On Sunday evening, December 2nd, the following children were Christened at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church by the Rev. W. E. Sayers: John Jeffrey, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Styles, Frankford; James Andrew, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Grey, Brighton; Sharon Diane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Wright, Brighton; Cecile Daisy and Austin Ray, twin son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Bun, Brighton. On this occasion St. Andrew's new baptismal font was used for the first time. Mrs. Harley Carr and daughters, Holly and Kelly of Pter-borough, spent last week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Carr, grandparents of Holly and Kelly. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ross and children, Gary and Susan, of Cobourg, were Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald I. Ross, Addison Avenue. Mrs. George McKenzie and children, Marni and Ricki, of Toronto, were last week-end guests of Mrs. J. A. Gagne and while here visited Mr. J. A. Gagne who is a patient in Trenton Hospital. Mr. Harry Weller is a patient in Trenton Memorial Hospital. In the recent campaign in Brighton and district for funds for the Retarded Children's School a total of $1,856.54 was raised. This campaign was led by Mrs. Eleanor Dewey, Mrs. Eileen Fox and Mrs. Cecil Morgan with many willing workers to assist Mr. and Mrs. Neil Loomis of Milton were last week-end house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hetherington. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Day and children of Milton were last weekend guests of Mr. Day's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Day. Don't forget to 'phone your news to this correspondent at 475-2891! The Santa Claus Parade was held on Saturday, December 8th, to the delight of all the youngsters. The Humpty Dumpty float made by one Brighton business man and his staff was especially good and must have required a lot of work and not a little expense! That is the kind of town spirit that makes any project a success! The Reverend Edgar S. Bull, B.A., B.D., Rector of St. Peter's Anglican Church, Cobourg, has been appointed Rural Dean of Northumberland and Durham Counties. The Brighton Scouts' Ladies' Auxiliary held their Christmas party and meeting on December 10th, at the home of Mrs. Lenna Baker. The meeting, with eighteen ladies present, was presided over by Mrs. Betty Taft. The minutes were read by Mrs. Jack Lisle, substituting for the Secretary, Mrs. Doreen Morris, and the Treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Irene McAnally. Business was then discussed with plans being made for the Cubs' and Scouts' Christmas parties such as whether to have doughnuts, etc. Plans were also made for the annual Scout Dance and it was decided to have it on January 25th, in the Masonic Temple. Mrs. Betty Taft then brought the meeting to a close with the Scout Mizpah. To begin the party segment of the evening, Santa Claus paid a visit, and each lady, after suitably greeting old Santa, was presented with a small gift. A scrumptious lunch was then served and everyone agreed it had been a lovely evening with much accomplished. The W.M.C. of Evangel Temple held their Christmas meeting at the home of Mrs. Clark Lawson with the President, Mrs. Frahk Edwards, presiding. The meeting opened with the singing of the group's theme song, "Workers Together With God", and prayer led by Mrs. Edwards. This was followed by carol singing and a Scripture reading by Mfs. Cruickshank. The Secretary-Treasurer's report was then given by Mrs. Lawson. Several letters were read, one with a donation and one with words of encouragement for which many thanks are given. A time of prayer was then spent for missionaries, home church needs, and the sick and The meeting was then turned over to Mrs. Greta Chambers for the program. Mrs. Betty Chambers gave a poem, "My Gifts", Mrs. Murdock gave a reading, "No Room at the Inn", by Billy Graham and Mrs. Greta Chambers gave a Bible quiz on Christmas, with Mrs. A. Kerr being the winner. The business part of the meeting was then discussed and plans made to visit the shut-ins at Pinecrest Nursing Home before Christmas. The January meeting of W.M.C. will be held at the home of Mrs. Frank Edwards when the election of officers for the new year will be held. The meeting closed with the singing of "Silent Night" and a prayer led by Mrs. Thompson after which a lovely lunch and a time of fellowship was enjoyed by all. BIRTH Bill and Kay Waddling are happy to announce the birth of their daughter, Tammy Louise, 8 lbs., 5 ozs., in Trenton Memorial Hospital, November 27th, 1962.
