The meeting will be held at the Colborne Public School on Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. The Colborne Rotary Club are presenting the Cobourg Kiltie Concert Band on Oct. 17 at 8 p.m. at East Northumberland Secondary School in Brighton. Myra Brown will be celebrating her 90th birthday on Sunday. Reminder of date reserved for Colborne United Church Christmas Tea, Saturday, December 7th. HARVEST THANKSGIVING Turkey Dinner at Trinity Anglican Parish Hall, Colborne, Wednesday, October 2nd, 1974; at 5 - 6 - 7 - PM. Admission charges: Adults, $3.00, Children under 12 $1.25. Colborne Women's Institute afternoon Tea and Bazaar, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., October 5 in the Masonic Rooms. Colborne Scouts Apple Day, October 19, and Paper Drive, October 26. The Colborne Horticultural Society is holding a general meeting and a "Dahlia and Chrysanthemum" show Monday Sept. 30th at Anglican Trinity Parish Hall. All entries must be ready for judging by 7:30 p.m. Judges will be Mr. and Mrs. Clarance Link of Hampton, Ontario. Added interest at this meeting will be "Growing Lillies" given by Mr. Bernard Dilling of Hampton as well. This event will be the last Flower Show for 1974. Everyone is welcome, refreshments 'will be served and a door prize will be awarded. Lenna Snyder Baker looks over the syllabus for the Rotary Music Festival with chairman Cy Gary. The festival is sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Belleville and Trenton. Copies of the syllabus are available locally through Scanlon's Pharmacy, Brighton or call Gary, 355-3508, Colborne. The Royal Canadian Legion, Brighton Branch, are sponsoring a Septemberfest which will be held at the Brighton Community Gardens Sept. 27. The event will feature German music and German bands. A free beer mug will be given to all those attending. The event starts at 9 p.m. and will end at 1 a.m. Persons must be 18 years of age or older to attend. The Brighton Intermediate Hockey team is looking for players for the coming The team is inviting all those players interested to come to their next practices. They will be practicing in Trenton on Sept. 23 at 9:30 p.m., Sept. 25 at 9:30 p.m., Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. The coach of the team is Frank Lewis. Improvements made to area churches A meeting of the Parish Council of the joint parishes of St.Francis de Sales, Colborne and St. Mary's, Grafton took place at the Rectory in Grafton, Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting opened with the pastor leading with the Our Father in unison. Several highlights mentioned for the past year were, a new furnace being installed in the Colborne Church in December 1973, and in July 1974, ah; electric organ was purchased for Colborne also. Both of these items were completely paid by donations from the members and not out of General Funds; both items are being enjoyed by all! The roof and spire of St. Mary's Church, Grafton, has been painted this year. Castleton - Centreton 4-H Saddle Soars By Scott Turney A large crowd gathered Sunday September 1 at Burkes farm for Castleton Centreton 4H Saddle Soars 1st achievement day. The sponsor for the day was Phylmara Horse Farm and the judges were Pfiylis Baldwin, Reg Stevenson, Andy Travers and David Turney. Trophys and buckles will be presented on awards night. The game results were as follows: Saddle Race: 1st heat, Brenda Burke, Janet Dietsche, Dianne Desure; 2nd heat, Cathy Inglis, Lynn Lumley, Scott Turney; 3rd heat, Dianne Rutter, Linda Dietsche, Helga Dietsche. The meeting opened with the League prayer said in unision. There was a good turnout of members. The main topic of discussion was the annual tea and bazaar which will be held Nov. 9, in the Masonic Banquet Room, prizes, decorations and menu for the tea were discussed. Following the meeting a social hour was enjoyed by all.
