- Eliza J. Padginton (1862-1961), Canada's first female postmistress and a life-long supporter of Canadian Armed Forces personnel, is buried in Lakeport Cemetery. Her stone, at the eastern fence line near the top third of the cemetery, indicates she was born at Lakeport in 1862 and died in Colborne 1961. Under those dates is "At Rest". In a second block are carved the words, "Remembered by friends and the veterans of Boer War, World Wars I & II and Korea".
