Description
Cramahe Archives have four Women's Institute [WI] Scrapbooks in its collections. The WI scrapbooks contain diverse subject material about Colborne and Cramahe. All four WI scrapbooks have been scanned page by page. The scrapbooks can be accessed by going to the "Browse by Subject" option on the Cramahe Archives home page and scrolling to the bottom of the subject terms to locate "Women's Institute Scrapbooks" and then click on this link.

This print appears on page 24 in the Women's Institute scrapbook - the local identifier number for this particular scrapbook is 5sb. Original photographs included in this Women's Institute scrapbook have had individual records created for them, greatly increasing their accessibility for searching under general keyword terms.

Castleton Branch, Women's Institute, was founded in November 1905.

Inscriptions
This photograph appears twice in the Women's Institute Scrapbook, 5sb - on p.24 and p.26.

The caption on p.24 reads: "Meeting at Mrs. A. Johnson's home, a group of ladies who gathered to sew carpet rags, June 20, 1922. There are 32 persons in the snap."

An date inscription in the upper right hand corner reads: "1922" The caption on p.26 reads: "Back Row: Donna Lesper, Beth Carr, Helen Newman, Cora Gooderich, x, Mrs. John McKague & child, Carrie Welton ; Sitting on Verandah: Mrs. Fred (Ada) Black, x, Flossie Welton & Rita, Mrs. Wilkie Nelson, Mrs. Will Campbell, Mrs. Al Johnston (hostess) & two sons, Mrs. Will Gerow, Mrs. Frank Cowie, Mrs. A.J. Jones, Pearl Church, x ; On the grass: Mrs. Geo. Campbell, Mrs. J.E. Wolfraim, Mrs. Dave Arkles, Mrs. Dennis Lathrop, Miss Crichton, Mrs. Sarah Richards, Mrs. Ben Andrus, x,x,x. x means that I don't know." This caption has also been included as an image for reference as the interpretation of the spelling of the some of the names may be incorrect.
