- Sketch by Barry King
"Named for Cuthbert Cumming, a retired Hudson’s Bay trader, and his wife, Jane, who purchased this property on May 5, 1845, the residence at 7 King Street West in Colborne was built in the 1830s. It is a Georgian-styled Ontario Cottage with wide eave overhangs.
The neoclassical front door opens onto a central hall plan with 12-foot ceilings flanked by large principle rooms. A box central staircase leads to an interesting Belvedere room on the upper level and servants’ quarters. The original baker’s oven exists on the lower level. There are 12 rooms in the house."
