Ridge Road3 Ridge Road's school was S.S. # 10 Cramahe, Pine Grove, also known as the Purdy School, named after a local family. The Pine Grove's name originated, so the story goes, for it was built in a pine grove. The exact location was Concession 3 Lot 31 Cramahe Township on the Purdy Road. The land was purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Greer for $50.00 in 1877 and the cost of building the school was $500.00 according to old papers. The trustees were Ed. H. Purdy, H. H. Alger, and James Baker. The school closed in 1961 and the children were bused to South Cramahe School further down Purdy Road. Copied from School Days in Northumberland. Published May 2001.
