DetailsJohn Trenear (12 Dec 1835 – 12 April 1913) and Adeline Skelton (11 Dec 1831 – 23 March 1924) are my great grandparents. They lived in Cramahe Township in 1871 when the census were taken. They are buried in Salem Cemetery along with their son Robert (25 Aug 1853 – 06 Jan 1878). Their daughter Jane (a twin to Robert) married Eugene Serviss and moved to Iroquois. Two more children: Harriet Eliza (11 Sept 1857-10 Apr 1934) married Joseph Bellamy and had 3 children Grace, Robert, and Wallace. Charles William was the fourth child.
Joseph Trenear (1804 –1873) and Eliza Hodges (1821-1871) my great great grandfather lived in Cramahe township at the time of the 1871 Census. I don’t think they lived on the farm where I use to live on Trenear Road. I’ve been told that the Trenears owned all the land around Little Lake but don’t know if that is true or not. I know they owned the property where the Orange Lodge, The Pavillion and Ernest Horswill's property was.
Mary Ann Trenear (03 Jan 1837 - 17 Mar 1909) is the sister of John Trenear. Their mother was Jane Hamilton. Mary Ann married and moved to Wisconsin. Never came back to Canada.
Charles William Trenear (15 Apr 1862 – 21 Aug 1934) married Victoria Adeline Peters (05 Mar 1869 – 01 Aug 1935).
They had 7 children: Jennie Adeline (12 Sept 1887 – 18 May 1964) married Robert Chatterson and lived in Cramahe township. Buried in Salem Cemetery.
Arthur Kenneth (03 Sept 1895 – Aug 1969) married Iva Williams and Edna Johnston. Art and Edna are buried in Salem Cemetery.
Emma Harriet (06 July 1898 – 28 Dec 1964) married William (Harry) Dowsett and lived in Belleville, a nurse at Belleville hospital.
Frank John (20 Aug 1901 – 14 May 1966) Married Lena Compole – divorced – buried in Salem Cemetery.
Robert Claude (20 Aug 1905 – 29 May 1962) married Mary Jane McEathron and lived in Cramahe township. Buried in Salem Cemetery.
Charles Henry (06 Sept 1907 – 09 Apr 1908) Buried Salem Cemetery.
Gertrude Ann (02 June 1909 – 1979) married George Edward Bird. Lived in Brighton for a while. Buried in Salem cemetery.
Note: Trenear Road which flooded last spring (2019) was named after this family. They also owned the south shore of Little Lake and ran a dance hall and picnic area in the 1920s and 30s.

DetailsThe house and barn of Robert Claude Trenear, my father. This is the house and barn that was at the top of the hill on Trenear Road, on the corner where the road separates. The house was given to Ivan Chapins and to my knowledge is still standing today. There was a fire but I think they rebuilt it.
