HOW WELL HE LOOKS The Universal Exclamation of Thousands THE KING'S APPEARANCE SHOWS EVIDENCE OF GEN- UINE RESTORATION. The Spectators Along the Route Were Astonished at the Change for the Better in the. King's Condition--There Was- Popular Delight at Sight of Him. ; London, Aug. 7.--Among the thou- «ands of people who lined the route of the king's passage from the railway station to the palace yesterday, there were universal exclamations of 'How well he looks" as the royal carriage passed through the streets. The public was prepared ,to see a man who had had a good convalescence, majesty's_ actual appearance really astonished them. 5 A reporter who has repeatedly seen him, both before and after he b king, and was close to him ye , | ohserved that the change in his ma- jesty's facial expression was remark- able, and all-for the good. There "is , | less flesh on the face, and the skin 'is . | clear under a fresh tint of sun-burn while the suggestion of pufliness, which had given the countenance an wisatisfactory volor for some time past has entirely vanished. The genuine improvement in his ma jesty's health was reflected in the frankness of his smile and his con- stant willingness to raise his hat and bow: cordially wherever his eyes. ..met those of the onlookers. The popular delight At the king's recovery was visibly shared by the queen, who re- sponded to the cheers and waving 'of handkerchiefs with the most gracious bows. The roval carriage was driven at a slow trot, giving evervhody an easy view of 'a few seconds duration, which reassured them absolutely that the rest on board the yacht at Cowes had efiezted a genuine restoration of the sovercign's health.
