KING CHRISTIAN. Copenhagen, Nov. © 14.--To-morrow King Christian: celebrates the thirty- ninth anniversary oi his accession to the throne. Though nearing his nine- ticth year, the venerable ruler con- tinues to enjov health ana is as Vig- mentally and physically, as many men of sixty. At the recent autumn review King Christian appeared horseback at the head of the column of royalty, the white-haired king sitting his horse like a man of thirty. Only a few weeks ago; while out riding, his horse became frightened and bolted. After a mad race of nearly - mile the horse jumped a stone wall, but through it all King Christian sat as though glued in the saddle. Through his en- tire life his horses have been his chief delight. Each week day he spends an hour or more at the riding academy instructing his grandson in the art of horsemanship. At night, when the cus- tome family party: has dispersed, the king never fails to pay a visit to the roval stables before retiring, feed- ing his favorites with sugar loafs from his own hand. In recent years the king has become more simple in his habits, though he never was in- clined to the display of pomp _and ceremony usually associated with rov- alty. It was only recently that he remarked to his valet, who was gloat to give him a helping hand in dress ing, that he was still able to look alter himsell and would not require the services of an attendant until he grew older. His only tant at tendant in fact. is his Great Dane doo, which never leaves his sie. orous, oh cons VOTE FOR LIQUOR ACT. Away With Bar-rooms and Treating System.
