Paris, Dec. 13.--Comte Boni de Cas- tellane has purchased for £60,000 the historic Chateau de Grignan, near Montellmar, formerly the home of Mme. de Sevigne. The Chateau de Grignan originally belonged to the powerful family of Provencal nobles with which Mme. de Sevigne became connected, her onlv daughter having married the head of the house, Francois d'Adhemar, Comte de Grignan, in 1669. The family had been all powerful in the district since the days of Charlemagne. The build- ing was burned in 1792 bv revolu: tionists, but was not entirely de- stroyved. and was restored recently. The bed chamber and boudoir are still pointed out, and the chateau con- tains an interesting series of memor- ials of the celebrated writer and her family.
