G..Chamberlain, of the Dominion force of police, laid the i information in both cages, It is said that the. information up ' on which the prison authorities acted came from Toledo, Ohio, Like most shischief, a woman was at the bot tom of it, prompted by jealousy. It appears that one of the convicts in question had been writing to a wo man in Toledo, and receiving letters from her, This woman and a friend: of the same sex had . a quarrel, and the result was that the friend "'squeal od." She wrote ta the prison authori ties, giving the names of the convicts receiving letters and the names of the guards in the babit of carrying them in and out. Thus was the trap. nid. She also said that momey was sent to convicis from time to time, which was used by the guards receiving it, son of it being spent for tobacco and lux uries for the convicts.
