ARBITRATORS DECIDED IT A JUST ONE, y ---- Refusal to Pay, After Many Con- , ferences, Creates High Feeling at State Department, and it Has Been Practically Decided to Use Force. -- Washington, May 7.--~There is, rea- son to believe that Yue Usiiad Stules proposes to adopt tow alvador the same methods of collecting debts as were employed hy Great Britain and lwaly against Venezuela. One or more warships will probably be sent to collect the half million dol- lars Which Salvador owes the United States and if the present temper of the state department continues an armed force is likely to be landed with instructions to take possession of such property as seems likely to yield sufficient revenue to pay the debt. Considerable feeling is displayed at the state ment over the refusal by the Salvadorean government to pay the judgment awa against it and in favor of the United States by the recent arbitration tribunal. Although a judgment creditor, the United States through the state - de- partment has twice listened to repre- sentations by the debtor and still 'is convinced that its claim is just. _ Now it is informed that Salvador will not © pay, and, despite a reputa tioh as a most patient creditor, it is intimated that steps will be taken to force collection. The Pacific squadron visited Hon- duras and Salvador several weeks ago and is expected to arrive at San Francisco to-day. It consists of the armoured cruiser New York, the pro- tected cruiser Boston, and the Marble- head 'and Ranger, two umprotected cruisers. DIDN'T = CRITICISE CAVALRY. Winnipeg, May 7.--The statistics which have just been completed show the arrivals for the month of April have far exceeded even the largest ex- pectations.
