St, Petersburg, May 12.--Amna Sin mina, the wife of & small merchant in Riazan, has just. returned from Sibe- rin afoot, after having failed to get her husband pardoned. Siumina was convicted of forgery three years ago and sent to Siberia for seven years. Six months after his departure she raised money enough to follow him to a small town be- yond Irputz, where he was in prison. She set out to get him liberated by showing to the governor of Irkute proof, of his innocence. But the gov- ernor succeeded in convincing her that her husband was guilty. Her money being all gone, she made up her mind to walk back--a dis- tance of 4,500 miles, She has now done so, spending more than wo years on the way. -- AMONG DEAD MEN'S BONES. Gruesome Work on Wreck of the Algoma. Duluth, Minn., May 12.--The steam- er J. C. Suit, which has been charter ed for the season=to be used in strip ping some of the old wrecks on I Superior, has just returned from the wreck of. the Canadian passenger steamer Algoma, which was lost nine- teen years ago, with fifty-two -lives. Wha is left of the steamer is on the south coast of Isle Royale. The wreckers worked among the bones of the dead when taking up the 150 tons of iron which formed part of t ship's cargo. The Suit will at once return to the wreck and remove the bar iron in the hold of the lost ship. Died In Hamilton, Hamilton, Ont., May 13.--Rev. Mun- go Fraser, D.D., for sixteen years pas- tor of Knox church (Presbyterian), died last night. Mr. Fraser was born in Scotland sixty-seven yvars ago and before coming to Hamilton had charges at Barrie and St. Thomas.
