Craig returhed this morning from Vancouver, where he attended the general assembly meet- ing. The assembly's. stand regardi Queen's, he says, , was reecived wit favor everywhere in the west, and the Presbyterians of Canada are quite confident of being able to raise a further endowment of a quarter of a million dollars. Twice before, they cafie to the aid of the university and shielded it from danger, and the de- ¢laration is: how made that it can be Hone again with ease. Alderman Craig says that Mr, Charlton's speech that Queen's be retained was a mas terful effort, and carried the assembly almost to a man. Regarding the far. west, Alderman Craig saw wonderful things, and dé: claves that the ministers who took the trip will have far broader minds when they return to their churches. The Crip is an education in itself. When he saw Rev. Mr. Macgillivray last week, that Kingston minister was starting out for Nanaimo, the great mining region. Scotchmen hold the west, Craig says. Everywhere they are met with, and are the wost prosperous and most influential of the inhabi- tants. Likewise, the Presbyterian church eontrols the west, this fact be- ing recognized by all denominations. WIN PRIZES. Alderman Lord Dundonald's Concert.
