Though the union did not take effect legally till Jaly Ist, 1884, the first general conference ol the uniting bodies assembled in the Methodist Episcopal Tabernacle, Belle ville, on September 5th, 15883. Let us speak ont the loving words now when the hearts of those beside us might be touched, and wait not till they hie cold in the dust. Now is the time when men need sympathy. Let ws give them that sympathy now Love's quality is measured by what it will do, what it will give, what it will suffer. Doctors could not help her and she resolved to. try Dr. Chase's Nerve Food. As a result she has been thoroughly restored and by recommending this treatment to others has been the means of bringing back health and happiness to many a weakened and discouraged sufferer from diseases of the nerves. Mrs. Myles writes: "When 1 began the use of Dr. Chase's Nerve Food | was confined to my bed with what the doctors said was nervous prostra- tion. My stomach was very weak and 1 could not sleep at all for any length of time. Nervous chills and trembling would come over me and at times 1 seemed to be getting weak- er and weaker all the time. There were also paine on top of my head which caused me much suffering and anxiety "After using hall Dr. Chase's a dozen boxes of Food I began to gain in weight and to feel stronger Since then | have been gradually re- stored to health and in looking back can say that the improvement hax been something wonderful. 1 used iw ail 1 boxes of this preparation and feel it a duty as well as a privi- lege to recommend it to all who are suffering from nervous disorders. Several persons to whom I have de scribed my case have used it and been cured and I am sure that I owe my present good health, if not life itself, to Dr. Chase's Nerve Food." Mrs. James Hurst, 159 Pine street, Kingston, Ont "1 frequent- lv had distressing dizzy feelings in my head with pains in my back. About two months ago | began a treatment with Dr. Chase's Nerve Food and it war not long before | noticed a great change in my condi tion. I rest and sleep well now and get up refreshed in the mornings. The erve , states pains in my head and back do not bother me any. more. | am firmly convinced that this preparation is thoroughly and permane ntly curing me and that my system is mich bene fited hy its use." These figures do not include the contributions to the spe cial fund, whih has been gradually growing into respectable Pruportions. Close observers of the Wesleyan con. ference pi ings, saves the London Christian World, will have noticed how the tenacity of the three years' limit in circuits is becoming more and more relaxed. Twenty-seven applications for a fourth year were granted out of twenty-nine, one for a fifth year, and one for an eighth year. Circuits are beginning to discover that they have rights and priviliges as much as mis sions, and conference cannot logically resist the appeal. This sort of thing cannot go on indefinitely, and before long there will be another agitation for a general extension of the three years' term. The orphanage at Ashley Down, Bris. tol, founded by the late George Mul ler, received £41,702 last year Usimply in answer to believing prayer," mak ing in round numbers £1,120,000 sine the beginning, "without any appeal, verbal or printed, to the public, or so licitation for help addressed to one single individual." James Wright, whe issues the report, refers to a Jitedit tion made when: Mr. Muller died, 1898, to the effect that the work would now have to be carried on by new methods. "Yet for five years this work has gome on, and is going on to-day, on precisely the same lines on which it was conducted for the previous six ty-four years." MADE ENQUIRY. Into Death of a Lad at ronto, Belleville Ontario. The inquest, Wednesday, before Cor- oner Passmore, at Deseronto, to en quire into the, cause of the death of Joseph Gartland, a four-year-old boy, was adjourned until Friday next. A postmortem examination will be held. On Tuesday last the little boy was in his usual good health. He ate a hearty dinner ot | about two o'clock his meo- ther left him with a half-sister while she went shopping. The girl says she rocked the little fellow to sleep, car ried hit upstairs, and put him to bed. A short time after she heard a noise and went upstairs. The little boy turned over, gave a long wigh, and was dead. Dr. Newton was called but could give no reason as to the cause of death. This is the third death in the family since June last. In June two twin boys died suddenly, Dr, Newton made the postmortem examination. The organs, including the brain, lungs and heart, were found to be in a healthy condition; and. no reason could be found that would cause death. The stomach was sealed and will be sent to.
