Elmira, N.Y., Dec. 10.--Mrs. William Campbell, a negress, went three times into her burning home yesterday, and with clothing in flames.and her hair burning, each time carried a child to safety. The three, agedtwo, four and six years were asleep in the garret of heard a cry, and looking up the stair- way, was confronted by a wall of flame.. Over the three chilren lying on the bed was a mass of fire, and the room was a veritable furnace, Into this inferno Mrs. Campbell rushed. Grabbing up the smallest of the chil- dren she quickly conveyed him to the sidewalk in safety. Twice more did Mrs. Campbell rush into the flamee, and twice did she come triumphant out of it, bearing with her each time one of her precious little ones. The last time. Mrs. Campbell came from the burning structure she was strag gering with exhaustion. Hii hair was burned, from her head, her hands were badly scorched and her clothing was in many places oblaze. The firemen then arrived and extinguished the blaze. Charitable people are giving Mrs. Campbell enough household goods to stock a boarding house. : Bryan's Opinion.
