Philadelphia, Pa., Feb. 22.--After suf g awful agony of hydrophobia for Nelson Miles, of No. 1121 East Montgomery avenue, died at his home in convulsions. The boy, while playing in the street near his Fone on January 23rd, was attacked by a strange bulldog and severely bitten over the right eye. He was taken to St. Mary's hospital, where, after «o week's treatment, he was discharged as cured. The wound had apparently .on tirely healed. A week ago pronounced symptoms of hvdrophobia appeared. Toronto News. It seems that in the hye-election con. tested in Quebec, the name "Protec: tionist"' was substituted for "Conser- vative," as the designation of the Op- positionists. This is not to the mind ol Mr. Monk. He thinks the party will gain nothing by cutting loose from an historic title and its traditions. But he forpets, There is Mr. Tarte to gain. While the namie Conservative, with all its associations and tradi: tions, will be Botted out, Mr. Tarte will appear as the leader, organizer and orator of the new party of pro- tectionists, In Quebec the wictures of Cartior and White and Masson will come down from the walls, in Ontario those of Sir John Macdonald and Caméron and Meredith, in Nova Seco- tin those of Tunner and Thompson, while that of Borden will hane lower, but all the void will be filled by the luminous presence of Mr, Tarte, lile- size and rampant. In the summer time large num hers of people will come hy the elm tric cats to Kingston and take the boats for a sail in the bay, The road will also be a boon to the farmers who can bring in their produce by the electric, much cheaper and more expedi: tiouslv than they now can. Sad And Sudden Death. On Saturday, Mrs. Shaw, of the vil Inge of Sultan, had just received a visit from her son, Dr. Shaw, of Lans- downe, who was pleased to find her in pood-health and spirits. He had driven dW to return home when she died without a warning while sitting in her chair. The deceased was wile of Ahgus Shaw, formerly farmer of the King ston penitentiary, and now a garden er at Sultan.
