For The Escape Of The Steam- er Tuttle. i Special to the Whig. 5 mhersthurg, Ang. 17.--The Cana- dian customs officers are disposed to place the blame of the escape of the steamer H. B. Tuttle on the tu Home Rule, which released the od from Boise Blanc Island where she ran aground after being seized by the customs officers. Dr. Smith, collector of customs, at Windsor, has reported the circumstances to the department at Ottawa and is now awaiting in- structions as to the manner of pro- cedure. Capt. Lowville, N.Y., Aug. 17.--The five vear-old son of George Hubbard, was accidentally shot and instantly killed vesterday at his home at Dolgeville, by the eight-year-old son of John B. Todd, Lyon Falls. A party of guests of the Lake House at Brantingham, went to Dolgeville, on a fishing trip, taking with them a twenty-two cali- bre rifle. When the party reached Dolgeville, they left the convevance at the home of Mr. Hubbard and walked up a nearby stream to fish. The rifle was left in the waggon, and the boys, who were cousins, while playing near- by saw the gun. The Todd bov picked it un and it was accidentally. discharp- ed. The ball struck the Hubbard boy in the upper lip, passed through his head and lodged in his brain, killing him instantly. INCUBATOR SAVES LIFE. Immediately After Birth Placed In Device. St. Louis, Mo., Aug. 17.--Walter Seamans, the ten-weeks-old son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. At the time of "his birth, May 29th, the child weighed ten and one-half pounds, but seven davs later had lost eight pounds, and the doctor had given up hope of saving his life.
