Last night about ten o'clock four thieves, after robbing the jewellery store of T. D. Lande, West Madison street, held a crowd of over two hundred persqns at bay with revolver and escaped. Just as Mr. Lande was about to leave the store for the night the four robbers entered and prevented him from leaving by barring the front door thus rendering him unable to get as sistance. They then proceeded to load themselves down with the valuable jewellery. They carried offi over $4,000 worth in diamonds. It is believed the same gang robbed the jewellery store of Turner Bros., 861 Madison street, a short time ago.
