Each nation has its 'own reputed prophet or prophetess, but of all there is none with such a reputation as Mrs. Eva Fay, the pre sent western hemisphere geeress 1 he Scrap ~ Book, Trunk = Munsey's new wagazine, has gn interesting article on what some of these prophets predict for 1906, mentioning three: Seestern, the German prophet; Madame de Lhebes, of France; and Lee Spangler, an evangelical prophet of Philadel phia. They cannot, however, look back and point to past predictions fulfilled to any extent. Even the Oracle of Del phi, of ancient times, and the Witch of Endor, or any of the famous pro phets of the tin of our ancestors cannot be said to have predicted ev ents with any degree of accuracy. Mrs. | Eva Fay, how , can point to a long list of predictions of important events that were not mere guess work, hut were happenings foreseen with a nicety that fills with awe as wel as astounds. In Chicago, in 1903, Mrs Fay, when asked as to the result of the next presidential eléction which was to occur in November, 19M, said that Theodore Roosevelt would be ol ceted. But, when «he went ahead and said that out of the entire 350 or 360 electoral votes in the college of elec tors, three hundred and twenty-five would be cast for Roosevelt, the re publican politicians woke up. They said collectively, among other things, although they firmly believed in the fact that Roosevelt would be elected, they eonld not see how such a land slide could take place. Yet when the votes of the college * were counted, three hundred and twenty-five was the exact number cast. About a year ago, in March, while in Cincinnati, Mrs Fay sajd something concerning the conclusion of the Russo-Japanese war, that through intervention of the wame President Roosevelt peace would he made, and that the agreement would be fostered Aiaerican soil; that the treaty would bel made and signed in a northern state on the Ag at a point several miles above Boston, Regarding the ultimate termi, she declured that though the little brown men from the eastern is land would be the stronger in point of arms, the Russians would get the hotter of them when it came to mak- ing terms of peace. And so they did. The Spanish American war was fore. told hy Mrs. Eva Fay, declaring that an Americun imttleship would be blown tp by the Spaniards in Havana on lantic const, 'Mrs. Fay blame on the Spanish, it is still reasonal le to sup pose that Mrs. Fay saw correct I'he assassination of the martyred presi dent. "William McKinley, was . with great reluctance foretold by her Speaking of presidents, she pradicted in ag ral way the engagement of Miss Alice Roosevelt, saying that she come back a long trip am o a prominent statesman York she said Jerome would would take engaged 1 In New bee oloetesl and Hearst counted out. For this year she predicts very litte. To her vision it will not be anvthing ont of the ordinary fut jor the future she makes some inter estit ictions. She cannot, how | wevond a certain point in ber over, go foreseving and that point, the time limit set by her nature or powers, whichever von please seems to he the stent of her life. For instance, she has been often asked when there will another democratic president, and answered, not in seem then that limit of her be she my has invariably time. 11° would he cannot see bevond the own days She has predicted that will he the next: president Fairbanks Regarding calamities she has predicted that in the vear 1912 there will be a great war between United States and Cero arising from a controversy, a to the supremacy on the Germany will conduet the United into the borders on either for a long season devas tation will reign, but ultimmtely the United Stat will prove yictorious and the invaders be In the summer of 1909 there great many jealousy' as high seas, invasion working and into States, siecle repelled will a drowght, she savs, which will be fol Jowed hy an extremely hard winter. In the year 1921 she avs that the navigation of the air will have super seded all other kinds of passenger traflic, leaving the surface methods for the sole use of freight. In fore politics she has seen a few things, among which thert are two events whose fulfilthent she pre dicts. Ope is the success of home rule for Ireland, which will be obtained within the space of two yours, In Rus sin the Zemstos will, in three years time, have acquired much the same rights as the people of France She also foresaw the coming lo gether of King Fdward and the kaiser in thmt memorabl: secret meeting on the high 'seas.
