It contreg chiefly around his Proposed visit to Montenegro, There is iho real reasom to apprehend that he will lend himself in any degree to the plots of Prince Mirko, against the Servian throne, It is said that special assirances in this regard have now been given Austria, where some ap- prehension has existed. Anglo-Austrian relations have, indeed, become extreme- Iv cordial, somewhat to the dismay of the Birlin chancellory. This is anoth- er effect of Gormany's unskiltul handl- ing of -the Moroccan question, which may have important consequences, | The relations of Austria anfl Monte- negro have been strained for several reasons, one egpecially causing eoneid- erable gossip. It is notorious that the Prince of Montenegro is often impe- cuious and sometimes resorts to queer methods for raising the wind. Uneof these, which caused o rupture of the usual postal + arrangements with Austria, happened in 'this way. Ten months ago the prince was in desper- ate need of funds. He sent an attache to Vienna and then began forwarding to this individeal post orders in large numbers for the maximum am- ounts in the names of various sup- posed merchants. The receiver cashed these at the Vienna postoffice and the sums soon amounted to $200,000. The Vienna postal authorities in due course 'called on the Prince of Montenegro to pay the sum thus advanced. The prince pleaded inability to meet the obliga- tion, After an acrimonious correspond ence Austria cut off money order rela- tions with Montenegro and brought pressure to compel payment of the mony. The prince finally appealed to the czar, saving that unless he had he'p he would be compelled to sell a slice of his little kingdom to Austria. The czar recently paid the hill, but {postal relations between Austria and her little neighbor have not yet ¥en resumed, CASES HEARD And Judgment Delivered in | Supreme Court.
