The New Bishop is a Native of the County of "Glengarry and Has Seen Long Service in Eastern Ontario. Cornwall, Out, May. 3. The ap- pointment of Rev, William McDonell as hishop of Alexandria is officially amnmounced. Rev, William McDonell was bom on the south branch of Charlottenburg township, Glengarry eainty, a little over fifty vears ago. He is a son of Donald Archibald McDonell, deceased. He was odocated in the common schools of the cotfity and at St. Joseph's College, Ottawa, and took his theological course at the Grand Seminary, Montreal. He was' or dained at St. Raphael's, Glengarry, in September, 81, by the late Bishop Cleary; of Kingston. He was station: od at Gananoque for abont five vears and in 1886 succeeded the present Archbishop of Kingston in the pas- torate of Glen Nevis, where he re mained until 1890, when he was re moved to St. Andrew's as syccessor to Rev. Viear-General Corbet, now of Cornwall. RESOLUTION OF CONDOLENCE Passed by the Kingpton Clerical Club. At 'the meeting of the Kingston Clerical Club, on Tuesday last, being the first regular meoting since the death of the founder and first presi dent, the late lamented Dean of On tario, a minute of the letter of, con dolence recently issued hy the chib through the secretary and directed to the bereaved family, was read, the clergy respectfully standing.
