The Freight Rates Fixed By Com- mission. Several additional orders have heen issued by the railway commission. A year aco a man named Scobell secur- ed an order of the board forbidding the Kingston and Pembroke railway to charge a rate on timber for ties higher than that levied on ordinary lumber. On petition of Gillies Bros., lumber ts, Braeside, Ont., and the Rideau Lamber company, Ottawa, this order is extended to apply to all railways. Henveforward all ties not treated with preservatives must be treated as ordinary lumber, except in the case of certain competitive rates. ------ Bell Rock Notes.
