A detachment of infantry, alarmed by the sound of the firing, rushed up and fired a volley, killing two men and wounding two others. On Sunday morning the terrorists retaliated, beginning a massacre of policemen and soldiers patrolling. the streets, At noon the infuriated troops attacked the Jewish quarter, destroy ing houses and shops, It is reported over a hundred .persons were Killed, The, city is in flames. A late message from Siedice, timed 1:35 a.m., states the massacre com- tinued all day. The soldiers attacked all civilians, Christians and Jews, rob- bing and murdering without diserim- ination. Montreal, Sept. 10.--~The Grand Trunk railway is goine into the hotel business, much on the same lines as the C.P.R. In the office of C. M. Hays, second vice-president of the Grand Trunk, arc plans for the erection of a few; Bonaventure depot and hotel. At the present the railway owns practi cally all the land in the immediate vicinity of their station and it is on this property that the new structure will stand. It is stated that the hotel, when complete, will be one of the fin est on the continent, and will accom modate eight hundred guests.
