Victoria, © B.C., Sept. 19.-Advices were received from Japan, . yesterda; of a fatal afiray between Japane: poachers and Russians off the Kaw schatkan coast, which resulted in the killing of a Russian officer and nine- teen, men and the killing of a num- ber of Japanese, including Lieut. Odake and a Japanese captain of a fishing vessel. Six fishing vessels Rakata and from Nigata, Hakodate, Japan, were fishing when a party of Russians seized the vessels on the charge of poaching. Sudeuki, an 'interpreter, drew a sword and killed a Russian sub-licutenant. A melee ensued and nineteen other Russipns and about a dozen Japanese were killed before the Japanese got their vessels away. Another report tells of the firing on the Japanese fishing boats by the forts of Vladivostok.
