POTTER FINED IN POLICE COURT. ~ Found Guilty of Selling Liquor ceived Notice Not to Do So. In the police court this morning, $40 and costs on William H. Polter, proprietor of the American Hotel, ' 29 Broek, for selling liquor to' William Hewkon, a Kingston young man, af- ter ha had been served with a notice not to do so by Hewton's brother. Over an hour was taken up in the heaning of the case, which caused much interest among the hotelmen of the city, some of them being present at the proceedings. The charge, which accused Potter of selling liquor to Hewton on the night of Friday, Nov- ember 9th, was made by License In- spector Wright. The accused entered a plea of appeared for the prosecution, John Mcintyre, K.U,, the aceused. and was counsel for Potter, had been served with two no: tices not to sell liquor to the young man, one on November Tth, 1005, and the other on June 1%, last.
