Hunting Has Been Stopped For Present. Dublin. Jan. 3.--The members of the famous Duhallow (Cork) fox hunt have notice that huntin~ has been stopped for the present. Quite recent ly a larve number of valuable hounds were poisoned on the public road while proceed ng to the meet. This act is attributed to the presence at 'of some landlords, received the meet to whom exception is taken by the peasants, and the master considers it undesirable in the circumstances to eontinue the hunt. A number of armed mer, with masks on their attacked the house of a farmer at Athenny, a few days ago, and after firing a few shots decamped. The farmer has been hoycotted by the United Irish League for dealing with land grabbers. Shots were fired into a police barrack at Castleland, county Kennv, a few dave ago, but no verson was injured. A large number of ten- estate of Lord Headley. faces ants on the near Killarney, are under notice of eviation for non-payment of rent. To carry out the evictions a large force of police will he necessary as the ten- ants will make a stubborn fight for their homes, Several aorarvifs outrac- ee are revorted from North Cork, where moceedines ave beine taken againgt the tenants hv Lord Kenmare for non-rvaviment of rent. The hrenches of the United Trich Teaone in Galwav d Mavo, though vrroclaimed bv the vernment, are still active and all settlers and land grabbers are strenu- ously. boycotted. Who's Hurt ? The children who drove out in a van 3 carly in the afternoon had their fun (first. There were games of all sorts |and a Jack Horner pie, into which all the little people stuck their thumbs, | and pulled out plums. Master Winth- |rop Sears, the little son of the house, who recites so wonderfully, told all about 'Seeing 'Things At Night," Santa Claus," and many other things, and delighted young and grown-up alike. Then there was tea. and some pretty dancing by some of the little girls, and mare romping, and the drive home about nine. The grown-up portion of the party stayed till two on New Year's morning, and their fun consisted of a Christmas tree, whereon was a gift for each, with an appropriate piece of nonsense verse attached: cyshion dance, musi- cal chairs, a cakewglk, and anv and every game that suggested itself to the inventive minds of hostes®t host or guest. Dancing was also included. Among the guests were © Mrs. I' Rielly. of Cornwall: Mr. and Mrs. Ji J.
