Medical Heglth Officer Bell states new cases of typhoid fever have been reported to him this year. January has gone, and this announcement is very sgptisfactory in- deed, in view of the large number of cases that occurred during November and December. Dr. Bell says that everything possible was done to trace the origin of the cases. and satisfac- tory cause was given for each case. He syvs that no more than was done could be done. The law as it at pre sent exists is not satisfactory, and before the local board of health can exercise the powers it wishes to and have the health get amended in sove- ral respects.
