In the police court this morning, young man was fined 83 and costs i being drunk and, disorderly. His pre- vious 'good charatter alone saved him a heavier fine. When Constable Mullin- ger attempted to arrest him on Ontario street, Saturday night, at 10.30 o'clock, there was a lively tus- sle hetween the two, and in the melee 'the police constable had his trousers torn. Constable Samuel Arniel appear; on the scené,' and the two" officers suc- ceeded in landing the offender in the cells. Besides' paying the fine, the young man will have to purchase a new pair of trousers for the police officer. This goes to show that sprees come very high, sometimes. Serious Penalties. In view of the many reports thers have been of the poisoning of dogs re- cently it might be as well to call the attention of the public to the severe penalty provided by the criminal code for this offence. For the poisoning of a dog a person is liable on summary conviction to a penalty of $100 over and above the value of the dog or to three months' imprisonment with hard labour, t Omitted From Pass Lists.
