It is very likely that the 14th regi- ment officers will accept the invitg- tion extended by the city of Water town, N.Y. for the Kingston rifles to visit that place on July 4th. A visit to Ottawa on Jume 30th and July Ist had been planned, but it has heen found impossible to get transportation for. the regiment, either by Grand Trunk or Canadian Pacific railways at the time wanted, on account of the great Dominion Day holiday traffic. Neither railway could Spare a special train to carry the regiment to the cq- Pital at that particular time, The re- sult has been the cancellation of the proposed trip to Ottawa. At ins juncture has come another pressing in- vitation from the city of Watertown, which wishes to return the courtesies extended by Kingston to its militia Company on several occasions in ye- cent, years, Watertown js "convenient for travel, and it is one of these Yan- ee cities that are half full of Cang- dians, and not all of the male sex, either. A visit of the Kingston Rifle regiment to Watertown would be sure over the border gare great entertainers, and treat their guests with 'marked favor. Hence, as the 14th cannot con- veniently get to the Canadian capital y train.
