A man's wife should always be the same, especially to her hushand, but if she is weak and nervous, and uses Carter's Iron Pills, she cannot be, for they make her "feel like a different person," so they all say, and their husbands say so too ! The adjourned session of the county council began Tuesday morning. War- den Drew and Councillors Aylesworth, Purdy, McGregor, Brash, McDonald, Foley, Hamilton, Miller, Stoness, Thomson, Franklin, Truscott, Fisher, Wood, Shannon and Briceland, were in attendance. A letter was received from the Moth- er Superior of the House of Provi- dence, stating that the Greer family which the council had put there tem- porarily, two weeks ago, could not be kept much longer, on account of the condition of two of the children, who are idiots, and who should be placed in an asylum. The House of Industry had refused to keep the family for tha same reason. Clerk Edwarlls stated that he had twice written and once telegraphed the Orillia asylum auth- orities about taking charge of the two children, but had received no answer: He thought it very strange that his communications had not received the attention to which they were enti- tled. It was clear that the children re- ferred to must be cared for in an asylum, and Orillia was the proper place. The clerk also read another com: munication from the House of Provi- dence mother regarding the proposed arrangement for caring for county poor at the rate of $1.50 a week, the Greer 'same amount as charged by the House of Industry. She said that a new board of directors would be in charge of the institution from July 1st, and that it would be well to leave the mat- fer over for their consideration. Thera was no doubt .-but what such an ar- rangement would be agreed to. The council adjourned wumtil two o'clock, for the benefit of the finance committee. dim sets PATROL WAGGON NEEDED. Drunk Was Taken to Police Station in a Cab. A first appearance drunk smiled when he faced the magistrate in the police court this morning. He had been drunk; he could not deny the fact, he said, but did not remember what had happened 'to him. Constable Hughes wag called upon to explain. The officer said that at 10.30 o'clock, Monday night, a call had been. received at the police sta- tion, that there was a man under the influence of liquor on Queen street. When he arrived upon the scene, he found the accused lying on the strect --in fact he was so much under the influence of liquor, that a cab had to be called to take him to the police station. The "tippler" also had to be carried into the cab, and also from the cab to the cells. Here was a case where the use of a patrol waggon would have given excellent service. When arraigned in the police court, a fine of 33 and costs, or fifteen days was imposed. The fine was paid. Rideau Lakes--Ottawa.
