US8th and 19th. = A meeting of the Kingston Poultry 3 Aon was held on Thursday night, in the association rooms at the corner - of Princess and - Montreal streets. Fresident Oldrieve occupied tenance of members. The important business of the cvening was the gues- clvear, and 'acting on the suggestion of | of some of the membérs, it was decid- od to aecept the wry gencrous offer of the Horticultural Socwety, and con- duct their show on the same date as the Horticultural Society, and in the same place, at the Armouries, thereby adding interest to the exhibition, the both. The show is to be held on Sep- tember 18th and 19th. Report says that the poultry is in fine condition for show purposes. A committee was appointed to se- cure the necessary tables, and stands, and a committee was also selected to arrange for the necessary printing. The members are very enthusiastic over the affair, and have promised to give the undertaking their hearty sup- port, and the show gives every pro- mise of being a "great success. The show held in Mr.' Oldrieve's store last winter, although on somewhat of a small scale, proved a great success, and delighted the Tarp amber of bird fanciers in Kingston, and there are a great many who have taken a keen interest in this line. The recent show was the means of working up much interest, and many who did not have birds on exhibition then, have pro- mised to be in the "swim" for the one to be held next month. And all this speaks for the success of the affair: Some of the members of the associa- tion have imported. : some new stock, which has been commented upon most favorably. The pigeon men hope to have an extra good display. Dr. Evans has offered to compete in a fifty mile pigeon race with Brock- ville men, on the opening day of the show, the race to be a fifty mile one. The doctor says that he has birds that can travel the fifty miles in one hour. The association will hold another meeting in two weeks, when final .ar- rangements will be made for the com- ing show. Ethel Howe played the wedding march while little Florence acted as flower girl. : Mr. and Mrs. Porter entrained wpon a tour at 4.16 in the afternoon, leav- ing by the C. P. R. local gxpress. Quite a company of friends assembled at the station' to wish them bon voyage, ? Mise Elliott has been for the past three vears a deaconess--one of a sis- terhood of the Methodist church. She was connected with the Sydenham street church in Kingston, and especi- ally interesting among her beautiful gifts is a handsome supply of flat ware, in sterling silver, a testimony of the high esteem in which she was held among the congregmtfon. Sterling silver loomed large among the sou venirs, and particularly fine were the articles from the bride's S.8. class in Kineston. - Beforo leaving Kingston Miss Elliott was thus addressed by the quarterly | board of Sydenham street Methodist church : "The quarterly board of Sy- denham Street Methodist church, on vour departure from ouf city after the few yearf' pleasant relationship which bas existed between you as deaconess and the church we ropresent desire to express hearty appreciation of the work done and sympathy shown by you during the years yow have been in' our midst.
