Strathcona, Oct. 22.--An abundance of superior paper finds a ready mar ket at quite an advance in price opmpared with one year ago. The worthy proprietor, W. J. Finlay, de- serves all the good luck that -is now coming his way. Messrs. Parrott and Balance have annexed a device to facilitate the loading of the paper with ease and dispatch and have also | the contract of the carpenter work of the two cement annexes in con- templation of erection soon. Contrast the appearance of F. A. MacDonald's ranche now and one year ago when fire made it desolate. His bank barn erected last fall by R. Dougan, and his house now in course of construction, both of which are a crew to, contractor and own- er. Two verandahs of ornate design improve the house on the Madden ranche. Leslie Balance constructed them, There was a good crop on' J. T. Wilson's farm, and it was a varied one, consisting of hay, grain, as well as beans, corn and tomatoes for the canning factory. Thereis no bet- ter farm in the county for a fruit farm than this. When are we going to have this canning factory ? W. Balance is looking for a bumper crop in 1908 and he richly deserves it having put his farm in elegant shape for the frost to complete the prepara- tion of the soil. Shannon, Mill street west. The fire was caused by the bursting of a coal oil lamp. The fire brigade extinguish- ed the fire before any serious damage was done.
