Montreal, Nov. 8 --Harry Charlton, advertising manager of the Grand Trunk Railway company, has just re- turned from the scene of the recent Jamestown exposition, in which the exhibit of the company was awarded two gold medals and one silver. He states that while the exposition was & very successful one from the point of view of the Grand Trunk railway whose display attracted widespread attention at the exposition, it was a failure fimancially. The Late Mrs. James Deacon. Lindsay, Ont., Nov. 8.--Mrs. Cather- ine Elliott, widow of the late Capt. James Deacon, died, yesterday. Capt. and Mrs. Deacon were amongst the early settlers, coming here in 1866. Capt. Deacon died only a few weeks ago. An Indian Dead.
