"Julius Caesar," presented last night by Ben Greets players, at the Grand, delighted the large audience present. The different parts were in capable hands and all devoted to Shakespeare, were given a rare treat. Every member showed up well, and Perbonal intelligence was evident in each role. The many interesting inci- dents were given in a realistic man- ner. The scene with the crowd, was, no doubt, the - hest ever put on in Kingston. It was the spiri- tual things that the characters could see, that composed the study of the play. And they were presented in such a clever manner, that it was very easy to understand. To-Night At The Grand. "The Shadow Behind the Throne," which is booked at the Grand for to- night, is classed as a play much above the ordinary melodramatic. standard in every legitimate and attractive re- spect. Its claims to high class and distinctive . merit are soundly based upon the originality of its story, the strength 'and consistency of its plot, the scope of its characters and the ar- tistic truthfulness with which a wnot- ably excellent company portraysthem, the mystic Orientalism of its atmos. phere, realistic effects and superb im- ported costumes, concentration and contrasting of the strongest human passions in' scenes amid climaxes which audiences to sob, laugh, shudder and applaud to the echo. move great "Way Of The Transgressor." The plot is charmingly unique. 4 ASKED FOR PROTECTION. Tne Sad Case of a Young English Immigrant. "Please, sir, will you let me stay in the police station over night ?"' by The speaker was Percival Fishborn, who has been out in this country from England three years. He has had a great many ups and downs since he landed in Canada, and, yes- terday, when he found that his money was all gone, he had, much against his own will, to ask for a night's lodging at the police station. His re- quest was granted. Three months after he arrived in Canada, Fishborn had the misfortune to be injured in a railway accident, and lose his left arm. He stayed in Toronto for some time, and all last winter was in London, Ont." At -To- ronto, he says that he applied for as- sistance at the different friendly so- cieties, and was told that he had bet- ter leave the city, as there wasyno work for him there. "I have been endeavoring to get work, but I have failed," said Fish- born. "I am, of course, handicapped by having only the one arm, but am quite willing to work at anything I can do."
